Anthony Grant only had 3 years at VCU (with 2 NCAA appearanaces, I know) but MVSU is literally the worst school in the NCAA division 1 bball field, I believe, and he seems to be doing some special things in Itta Bena.
Without ever watching them play, evaluating these type of scenarios is tricky. Two main components I'd look at with a coach is 1) how fundamentally sound are his clubs and 2) how does he recruit overall?
The first is pretty easy to evaluate by watching and I haven't seen one second of Wood's team so who knows. The second you can't really judge b/c he's not in any recruiting wars except for guys with checkered past that may be getting a 2nd look. The article basically mentions he's got players that would be at two good programs otherwise so is the record an indication of coaching or does he have more talent now than the surrounding teams b/c he went out and found some guys.
The fact that he found them and brought them in is a good sign that he can bring talent into a program in some fashion. And he's certainly turned around a horrible program so he's got to be doing something right with the coaching.
