I refuse getting caught up in all the recruiting crap...

1. If WR's decommit- I understand. We have about 10 of those mf'ers on our roster already. And you can tell a recruit till you are blue in the face that we want them and they will be better than most of those guys, but they can still read a depth chart and that creates doubt. And people recruiting against us point that out as well.

2. Cam Newton saga- I've heard from multiple sources this is being used against us. We can tell recruits all day long nothing is coming from it, but they have other schools lying and telling them it is. It's spun as "State was involved with money and Newton. The NCAA is saying nothing about Aubarn are they?" If you remember the effect it had on Jackie's recruiting, you will understand this can be a problem because it creates doubt. Just more propaganda that makes it harder for us to recruit.

3. CJ and Whitehead are the most important for us to land for our team. The WR's would be nice, but a top CB and LB are bigger needs for our team. If we lose both of these guys, I'll be much more disappointed.

4. We need sustained success to expect bigger recruiting years. Mississippi's 2 Cotton Bowls > 1 Gator Bowl

5. We typically havent reaped the rewards of a bowl appearance until the year after. Liberty Bowl 2007 didnt help our Feb, 2008 class. But 2009's was much better, especially when Mullen was able to lock them in and add a few more.

Let's wait till we get past our big recruiting weekend and see what happens. Getting them all face-to-face makes a big difference. I expect some good things out of next Sunday.

With that said, what's the difference in the two main sites. I looks like Scout has more stories.

I agree with you coach and I'm ready for these recruits to get face to face with the staff. That's the tough thing about the negative recruiting, it affects the recruits until you can look them in the eyes and fix that ****. I know it feels like the train is running out of control and will derail at any moment but it will put the brakes on after our big weekend. We will end up signing 2-3 good WR even if they are not named brassell, singleton, or morrow. I just want johnson and whitehead.

I think I read that he has somewhat decommitted or at least opened up his options. Does that mean we have a good shot at him?

Your right, the 2007 Liberty Bowl had a huge effect on our 09 class despite uslosing45-0 in that egg bowl. I think it has something to do with the first impression you get with the recruit and that usually happens duringtheirJR year.<div>
</div><div>I hope this is the case with Channing Ward and Quay Evans. Those two are program changers. Nobody in this class will make the splash in college like those two will. People have been on them since they weresophomoresso that could blow our "year before the year" theory out of the water intheircase.</div>

however Brassell, Singleton and Morrow all need to realize that they give us something at the WR that we currently lack. Brassell and SIngleton are burners and Morrow is the big possession type receiver that can break a tackle. All three would play next year.

This is the point I was trying to make the other day before I got blasted.....TS and NB would be nice, but they are not going to make or break our team.....there is not much difference between a 3 star and a 4 star, and we have plenty of them, a few more that redshirted last year, and a few committed......i think this recruiting battle is more 'us vs. them', rather than 'we have to have these guys'

and, as you said, if we lose CJ and whitehead....then i will have my feelings hurt...

1. "I'm going to be honest with you, if you go elsewhere, just be prepared to get yourassesbeat all 4 years by this school. These other coaches may be promising you the whole world right now,but come August, don't be surprisedthat it was all BS. From this point on, you will get nothing but 100% honesty from me, whether you want that or not"

2.Ok, at one point or another during the weekend, get each individual one onone, and ask them "what will it take?"

Anything else?Andwould #2 even happen... We need C.J. and Jermaine!

it makes you ask yourself if there is any redeeming value in following the rules at all. We essentially did everything we were supposed to do regarding the "Cecil shakedown" including reporting the issue (as you are required to do) and yet it appears to me that the end result is that the school that paid the money is about to buy themselves a BCS NC and could very well skate on the whole issue while we, on the other hand, have taken hit after hit in the media over this for no good reason and apparently are having it used by other schools against us in recruiting, I'm sure primarily by the Nutty bunch. Sort of sad when you know your own league commissioner is more concerned about any SEC improprieties coming to light than he is about his own league schools actually trying to follow the rules. Starting to question why any school in this league would see any reason to want to follow NCAA rules. Seems you've got cover from the top if you need to cheat and if you don't cheat you are a disadvantage against other league schools. And I'm talking about REAL cheating here not the trivial stuff that happens all the time every year like passing a 100 dollar bill in a handshake or something.

You know some people are desperate when they see their rivalschool is taking off. Only options, either do whatever takes to fix that.... or I'm about to get fired.... what's there to lose? Like you said, the commissioner basically tries to cover up whatever he hears anyways.

Neither Brassell or Singleton are an AJ Green/Julio Jones type difference maker. In fact, I really believe Michael Carr was a better receiver than Singleton coming out of HS. I know that was the opinion of several coaches last year (that Carr was the best WR in the state). Don't know who I would compare Brassell to, but we could certainly use him on the defensive side of the ball. <div>
</div><div>CJ Johnson is a different story entirely. </div>
