I refuse to let a loss on the road to ranked Vandy

its not like this year in football where i was okay with just about every loss b/c I thought we had played above our talent level (due to good coaching).

I honestly feel like, with my HS Bball benchwarming experience, I could coach a better floor game than what stans is putting out there. He leaves so much to be desired.

And last night's game at Vandy was yet another game we had no damn business losing. I don't care if they're ranked or not, they're simply not that good of a team.

The only way you can think we had no business losing to a ranked Vandy team on the road is if you think we are a legit top 10 team. And I just don't think we are.

hell they're 11-0 at home this year so far. Vandy is a damn good team, they lead the conference in points per game, or at least they did last night going into the game. If they aren't 1st they're top 3 easily. This isn't football we're talking about here. We had a decent shot at winning but I am by no means shocked and appalled that we lost.

I did, and there's no way Vandy's going to be ranked at the end of the year.

The Alabama and Arkansas lossses pissed me off....hell, even the win over LSU pissed me off

However, that being said, I never thought we would win last night, never thought we should win last night and was overall pleased with how well the team played against a good team on the road.

Yes, Vandy will be ranked at the end of the year, they are legit

The sheep took the "Vandy is ranked" excuse and sprinted with it starting last night. They own 2 impressive wins. At Tennessee and against Missouri. They also own losses to powerhouses Cincinnati, Illinois, and Western Kentucky. The only difference between "top 20" Vandy and MSU is they didn't choke (twice) the game after they earned their ranking.

This loss wouldn't have stung if we hadn't lost 2 VERY winnable road games to pathetic teams like Bama and Arkansas just prior to this one. Come up with whatever excuse you like, but it is not excusable for a team that returned their entire starting lineup in addition to being a preseason candidate to win the conference to perform as poorly as little Ricky has them playing.

Once again it was just terrible time management at the end of the game. We let them run off way too much time before we even attempted to foul them. Another thing that pissed me off is that the only person who is under the basket is Varnado. Kodi needs to get his *** in there and get some boards instead of standing behind the three point line. We had a good chance to win that game last night and I just get tired of us continuing to throw up bricks when we don't even attempt to go inside. It seems like we don't even set up plays and we just run in circles in order to get a three point shot with just one person in our face as opposed to two or more.

Not only will they be ranked, I suspect they will be no worse than a 5 seed.

but losing to Alabama and Arkansas sucked.

We need to bounce back and win a road game this weekend then defend home court over the next three games. That and a game at LSU and at home against Alabama should give us about three weeks of peace.

Seriously, if we won 5 of the next 6 and were 9-4 heading into @USC, @Auburn and Tennessee, I'd be happy. We just went through a rough spot in our schedule where we lost 3 of 4 but had chances to win all three.

WE ARE GOING TO LOSE BASKETBALL GAMES.

Quiz: What do the following numbers represent:

4, 3, 5, 6, 4, 6, 5, 4, 4, 7. Its the number of losses that the last 10 national champions entered the tournament with.

Going into the game I didn't think we would win. We didn't. That's why I'm not too upset right now. And I do think Vandy is pretty good team, so I guess that's another thing we disagree on.

why are they better than us? They start a senior, a junior, and 3 sophomores. We start2 seniors, a sophomore, and2 juniors. Do they just have better players than we do? Vandy? How does that happen?

are really not that much better than us. I would expect about the same margin with a Bulldog victory at home.

Now if you are asking why are they ranked higher or had a better season (so far) I'd say it's due to our slow start and bad losses early.

Yes, they have better players.

Ogilvy and JV is a push. Ogilvy is a better offensive player, JV the better defender. Hold a gun to my head and I would take Ogilvy but very close.
Beal is better than Bost. He's also a senior, and as a sophomore he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, so there is hope.
Taylor is better than Ravern. His only weakness is Ravern's only strength, and that's shooting the three. He makes up for that by getting to the line a lot.
Tinsley and Barry both do some good things but I would take Stewart here mainly for his D.
I would take Kodi over Walker. I think they had higher hopes for him before he got hurt.
Jenkins and Phil.....tough call. Phil does so many things for us. Jenkins basically does one thing for them, and that is score. Gimme Phil for now just because but next year that won't be the case. Jenkins could lead the SEC in scoring next year, especially if Ogilvy leaves.
The rest of our bench vs the rest of theirs is nothing to write home about. They get more production and have some usable big guys, so edge to them.

1. - - there is a reason we could "very easily win these games" it is because we have an above average coach that is getting it done at a place that traditionally doesn't get it done- we could can Stansbury and go back to the days of losing by 30 and not even having a chance to screw upfouling someone at the end of the gameif you would prefer

2. - - playing above talent level in football and implying that we are playing below it in basketball?? - what planet are you on? our players are physically built like JV high school teams (with the exception of Osby), and most would not start for top 25 teams. give that one a rest chief.

If you want to get rid of Stansbury for not signing more McDonald's All Americans and better ballplayers, get after it, and good luck with finding someone that will at Miss. State, but to suggest that he has these rockstar players that he doesn't get a lot out of is absurd.

This is my last post on this subject, as it is like trying to communicate with plankton.

if we really had a good team. Yes, there is a big difference between 5-2 and 4-3. Maybe, we just aren't that good. The SEC is not a good conference and the SECW is worse than the SECE. If we are 4-4 after 8 games...that's not good.
