Was Mullen there to offer them or were they already on our board? At first thought it was strange and were just curious to why but then thought, hey we are #1 in the country, why not expand our brand nationally while we're top dog.

Trying to recruit players that can easily be flipped to Michigan for when he takes that job.**

Expanding Our Recruiting

IMO, we are expanding our recruiting to take advantage of the media attention. We have offered several highly rated players from states that we don't traditionally recruit lately. Also, its an excellent time to offer these out of region kids because we are getting the media attention and playing on the primary networks. Lexington is a lot closer to Michigan and Indiana than Mississippi so some of these guys might be able to get to that game easier than coming to Starkville for a first look at MSU.

didn't those two (along with everyone else) get standing offers from freejus a year or so ago?

Let's hope they work out better than the last player we got from Michigan.

Your staff is starting relationships so they can keep the class in tact when they move up there.

Or maybe he read on ESPN that Mullen is a better coach than Freeze or he saw that Mullen has spanked Ole Miss four of the last five seasons.

That is probably why Michigan is going to offer him a job. He is a great coach.

If I was a Ole Miss prick and he was the Ole Miss coach I would worry a little but he is not leaving Miss state to go to Michigan. It must really sux knowing that your head coach is a USM graduate who coach highschool girls basketbal, with the only reason he got his college break is because a coach that Ole Miss fired wanted a 5 star lineman that played at the highschool he coach and who has had one really good recruiting class that was set up by another coach Ole Miss fired.

Don't be offended but there is alot of crazy crap going on at Ole Miss. It's kind of funny that your recruiting class dropped this year but that happens when the NCAA is camped out on your campus. You just can't cheat at this moment. Must really sux for you.

On the not leaving MSU thing, I tend to agree he won't, but Urban Meyer left Florida, not because of his family, but because he wanted an easier gig. It's not inconceivable that coaches may look to leave the SEC to get an easier route to titles in the future. Meyer just paved the way for that concept, and I won't be shocked to see others do it in the future even if the money isn't necessarily better.

On the recruiting class thing, you haven't seen us close yet. We don't have room for a full class this year, so we're holding back on numbers at the moment, but it's going to close out with a lot of blue chips and shoot up the all-important** rankings. And no, the NCAA is not camping out in Oxford...as much as you may wish it so.

Urban Meyer left Florida because the job was damn near killing him. Not to take another job. He didn't go to Ohio St. until a year or two later.

I'm glad you agree that Ole Miss does cheat. I will add that Mullen will not take a head coaching job at a school that Myer was the head coach. I just don't think he would want to follow his foot steps.
