I see there is a Martin fascination going on.

What do you expect when the other name is a first year sunbelt coach whose resume only includes asst coach at tulane and centenary?

From the 5 or 6 games I've watched this year, their offense is pretty much Stansbury style street ball but the guy is apparently one hell of a recruiter.

I think the difference between he and Stansbury is undoubtedly attitude. I will credit him there. Very animated and the players like him.

Frank Martin seems Ed Orgeronesque to me. Good recruiter, high energy psycho. He seems like an all effort style coach but is having success at KSU. I don't think he's as great a recruiter as he's being portrayed. Can you name a KSU player besides Pullen in the last 4 years without looking it up? I can't and I watch a lot of basketball. Beasley was Huggins recruit. Have you seen his meltdowns in post game interviews? He is absolutely bat **** crazy. He is on the edge of a P.J. Carlesimo choking or Woody Hayes punch at ALL times. Wanna see Mullen or Cohen scared of someone put Frank Martin in the room.

Ed Orgeron was a defensive line coach without any head coaching experience, let alone coordinator experience. Martin is a guy who coaches in one of the better basketball conferences and is consistently making the NCAA tournament. People say he can't coach, but then you come and say he cant recruit. Which is it? How is he in the tournament year after year if he can't do either. He made an elite 8 even. I would think that fact that Pullen is the only player you can name would be an indication that he is a dang good coach if he's having success without stars.<div>
</div><div>Now I'm not necessarily on the Frank Martin bandwagon or anything, but if we could get him then I think he would be the best available right now. It seems like no matter who we hire people are gonna be pissed off at Stricklin. Its like if we get anyone other than Brad Stevens or Shaka Smart, then some people will view this as a failure. Good gosh people, we have to hire someone. And we aren't going to be able to hire a Coach K or Roy Williams, so there is about a 100% chance that you will not like every single detail about the hire.</div>

That's what my friend says. He is a KSU grad and attends alot of games. Said the guy is pretty crazy and can be pretty abrasive. I don't know how that would fly down here.

I just don't think Frank Martin would fit here. I'll be more than likely fine with whoever the hire is but I just have reservations about Martin.

The high school he coached at in Miami had to vacate a title because of recruiting violations. A HIGH SCHOOL.

to Ed Orgeron. Dumbass. Who would you prefer as a better example? Matt Foley? Sorry but Frank is way crazier than Matt Foley.

one day....hit a player, something. Someone that high strung will snap eventually. I want someone with intensity but not Bob Knight Jr.

I'd support him if he came, but I'd like to see the other options.

He and Shaka are going to be guest commentators on CBS this weekend. You can get a better look at him then. He is definitely Intense. I think we could use a good dose of intensity in our program.<div>

My point was that I don't know that they'd be having the guy be a guest commentator on a national broadcast, like he did last year as well, if he was such a loose cannon who was capable of blowing up at any point. The guy has obviously been very successful at K-State, and he would definitely provide a fire in our program that we haven't had for a long time. I have no idea if he is truly a candidate for our job, but we could do much worse.
