I sure am missing Chris Stratton.

Don't know if it would have made a difference. But I sure hope there is a couple of pitchers like him in the recruiting pipeline.

We've got them on the team now. They just had bad years.

Woodruff going down hurt us badly, Lindgren faded down the stretch and just wasn't consistent, and Evan Mitchell couldn't get his stuff straightened out. I think Trevor Fitts has a very good shot at being a weekend guy next year and could be very solid for us before he leaves. Maybe get another MPH or 2 on his fastball and get him some confidence throwing it and he would be a very good Friday/Sunday guy. You also have to give Evan Mitchell a look at starting, especially with Cox and Gentry as long relief options to replace Mitchell and Girodo.

We need a couple guys to really step up and fight for those spots. You have to figure Lindgren will have the edge at one of the spots, but after that it's anybody's guess. There are a bunch of guys that could take weekend spots.

I just hope we get a HUGE bump in recruiting off this. I have enjoyed this year so much. I have waited so long to see this happen at State. I want to keep it going. If they can there is no doubt they will win a National Chammpionship.

What MetEdDawg said...We've also got some tremendous pitchers coming in. The run we made this year was with house money without Lindgren and Woodruff... This will be nowhere near the best team Cohen fields at MSU IMO. Whether or not that ever translates to winning it all in the postseason is yet to be seen...

I like that we are recruiting character guys that are talented as well. That brotherhood mentality means a lot when it comes to getting to the Title game. You can have a lot of talent and still fall short, so having a group like we had in the dugout was a big part of the success this year.

Also, I could see Woodruff and Lindgren both having HUGE years next year. And I may be wrong, but I get the feeling that Butch and Cohen are going to try to turn Fitts into Graveman 2.0....a reliable Sunday type starter in the SEC that has a 89-92 fastball with tremendous sink and a good hook. He already has a better breaking ball than Graveman, but he needs to work on his sink. If he gets that going, he would at minimum be a stud of a midweek guy for us.

And keep an eye on Dakota Hudson next year. He is supposedly the type of pitching talent that could be a Sunday guy as a Freshman. If we have a few guys break out as reliable starters with the bullpen we already know we'll have...Look Out.
