I sure hope we don't come out flat vs. Kentucky

Mullen needs to put everything from Florida aside and focus on the next game. I'm afraid that the team will still be thinking about last Saturday night - all week.
I didn't like this game when i saw it on the schedule b/c it was after Florida. We will see how good of a coach Mullen really is this weekend. I hope we've got
enough veterans on this team to help get the younger guys focused. We've got to come out strong win this game.

this shouldn't be a problem. I was worried about that myself, but I was told this morning that the practice yesterday was probably the best one we've had. Tons of energy, really crisp.
Really pretty surprising. You would think guys would have been bummed out.

and we went up to Lexington and crushed them 31 to 14. I think the team we have now is more talented than the team we had, and Kentucky is less talented than the team they had. Chance of rain saturday in Lexington lends itself to an advantage for us. I think they hang for a while, but we win by 10.

to me under Mullen. We really haven't come out and played without effort at any point in the year. There have been instances of getting outschemed (Auburn, Houston, Ga Tech) particularly on defense, but we haven't lost a game this year based on effort. That is something that happened at least 3 times each year under Croom. The season is not over yet, and it could happen, (Arkansas worries me) but our effort for each game has been very steady. This is the sign of a consistent winner, once we get some more guys that can execute.

I think MSU' front seven is sneaky solid. Cheney is playing really well and the front seven for MSU is pretty good, and at this point is pretty underrated. They kept MSU in the game on Saturday, and kept MSU in the game against LSU.

Offensively, things will get better once you stop playing FL's defense. Dixon needs to have a big game, but I think the dogs take this one.

I tell you one thing, I really thought dixon would struggle in a spread attack, but MSU is running a FL/WVA type spread and most of his yards are basically out of the shotgun option. People think Bama is a running team and FL is a passing team, but FL is basically an option attack out of the shotgun, same for MSU. I didn't think MSU would run a power running attack, but they have and Dixon has been tremendous, so I was completely wrong about him adjusting to the "spread".

UK mailed it in against UF and Bama. They will not mail it in against us.

I have noticed that too and I've wondered if Sunday practices are the reason. The day after game day, the team starts focusing on the next game. Don't have all weekend to stew over a loss or a victory.

out flat or not. Kentucky is a better team.

Then MSU must not be very good, because Kentucky is mediocre at best. Cobb could very well be the best player on the field on Saturday, but beyond that, these two teams are dead even talent wise.

And there is the problem with Rich Brooks coached teams at UK. They mail it in way to much.

This guy has the best job in America. His record in the SEC is 14-38. Since they upset LSU in '07? 4-13 with one point wins over bad MSU and Arkansas teams. He's 1-26 against the SECE besides Vandy. Where else could a guy keep a job with results like that besides Vandy.

Yes they've been to three straight bowls. But with the 12 game schedule including MSU and Vandy and 9 conference bowl tie-ins, is that really that great of an accomplishment? They don't play the Ga Techs, W Virginias and Houstons of the world.

Their win over Auburn was a shocker indeed. But if you saw the game, on a potential game-tieing drive in Kentucky territory, Auburn had 4 straight penalties - 3 of which were false starts. Nobody is playing worse than Auburn.

UK is not a very good football team. Unless Cobb is in the Wildcat, their QB play is worse than MSU's. This is a game MSU should win if they are climbing the ladder.

conventional wisdom is a TD for home field. that leaves us favored on a neutral field and favored by a TD or so at DW.

KY is a game we should expect to win. we are better than them at most postions.

the people (Las Vegas Sports Consultants) who make most of the lines actually do it differently for different schools. Some get less points, some get more. It's a decent rule of thumb, but not an automatic build in to the lines.
