I think Beamer's personality is costing us

Bottom line: he's just too nice. He doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. You can tell the way he tiptoes around any real critique our poor performances. He'll issue blanket statements that we weren't good enough and it starts with him, but he won't EVER pointedly say this or that position group did a poor job. And he'd NEVER in a million years comment on a player's performance. Maybe he's a bulldog behind closed doors, but I just don't see it. One reason is the product on the field is absolutely failing at fundamentals. It's Year 5 of his tenure and we can't block or tackle properly. Somehow we have a bunch of 4* players who can't execute the fundamentals. I know Beamer says there is accountability, but I'm just not seeing it.

It's hard to say there's accountability when we bring back one of the worst OL coaches in the country 2 years in a row AND give him a 67% raise. What message does that send to the players? It says their performance last year was good enough, even exceeding expectations. When you get a raise...a whopping 67% raise...it means you're performance has not just been good enough, but exceeded expectations.

We should not be surprised at the product on the field when poor coaching performance was rewarded with praise and adulation.

Beamer just doesn't demand excellence. After Syracuse narrowly beat UConn earlier this season, their coach was so ticked with their performance that he made then line up immediately after the game and run sprints. This was after they came back from down 11 points with 6 minutes to go in the game. If we did that against an inferior opponent, Beamer would be giving hugs, pats on the back and doing handsprings at midfield. He'd say we're never gonna hang our heads after a win.

If I'm correct, Beamer has fired one coach thus far in his tenure...the RB coach for some reason...and demoted/reassigned one (Stepp, if I recall, who decided to leave). And it's not because we've been stocked up with high quality coaches.

Nick Saban would chew out an assistant on the sideline and ream a player after a stupid play or costly penalty. Beamer pats them on the helmet and gives them a "we'll get 'em next time, slugger".

I know he can't fundamentally change who he is, but if you don't demand excellence, it won't just happen. And you have to demand excellence in your actions. It's like parenting. You can tell your kids you have certain expectations until you're blue in the face, but if there are no real repercussions for failing to meet them, the kids figure out real quick that's it just a lot of talk.

We need to start sitting players who don't execute the fundamentals. I don't care if that puts us on our 3rd string. And underperforming coaches need to be put on notice: you have 8 games left to prove your worth.

He’s doing nothing but making the team soft!!IMHO

If Beamer is too nice, why has he been so successful overall?

Nick Saban would chew out an assistant because he knew his entire teams were stacked with 5-star players.

We don't have that luxury.

He is "South Carolina successful" most other programs who considered themselves legit football teams would not consider him successful.

This is a little over reactionary. He was the future a month ago. I haven’t posted anything in a long time but losing to Vanderbilt 30-7 is a deal breaker for me. It’s unfortunate. There are a few really special talents on this team. Generational talents. The depth and leadership just seems to be an issue this season. Oh well. Maybe they can still finish 8-4 or so.
