I think its obvious that Cohen has lost confidence in Reed and Reed may not even

Holder is hot and he is pitching better. Reed reminds me of Jason Isringhausen when he was the Cardinals closer- he has to get himself in a jam to be able to operate it seems like.

At any rate, Reed is not a traditional closer- like I said in the pre-season. He is more like a long relief guy- he can give us 3 solid innings like he did last week.

I'm not sure that Cohen has lost confidence in him as much as he has more confidence in Holder. What I mean is, I still expect us to use Reed quite a bit.

If he did, he wouldn't keep throwing him out there with 1 run and 2 run leads. I think it's more of Holder is pitching great right now and he's going to be closing games like he did today. He left Reed in the game with the tying runner on 2nd base after giving up a double... That should be all you need to know as far as how confident Cohen is in Reed. If he wasn't, he would have taken Reed out.

has to chosebetween Reed and Holder, he's taking Holder......Yes, we'll continue to use Reed but he may be moving more into the set up role versus the closer role.....

He is gonna play the guy that he thinks is hot and right now Holder is hot. Like Todd said, Reed is better suited for long relief but he can be effective with certain hitters.

You gotta think we are due for at least a breakout game in scoring runs with several hits. Norris, Rea and Hunter are really struggling, those three guys need to get hot and they got the talent to do so.

I look for some runs Sunday, I just hope it's us, we need this sweep badly with Florida coming up next at their place.

But I don't see it as a bad thing that Holder is taking over the closer role. I'm a big fan of Reed, but he's much more suited for long relief/setup duty. I've never been a fan of pitch-to-contact closers that rely on you getting yourself out, which is what Reed is. I prefer the traditional power arm that's gonna throw it the 17 by you. That's what Holder brings to the role of closer. It's why I wanted us to give Taylor Stark a shot at the closer's role, too. Plus, I think it makes our pen that much better and more effective with the power arm at the back end and Reed setting up for him in the 7th/8th.

He's a good middle reliever who's done a great job of taking on a role that he's really not suited for and done a great job with it. He's been put in a lot of situations he really shouldn't have in closing when he's not really a closer and pitching way too many innings in some outings and he's done nothing but give it his all every time out.

have started using Reed and the rest of the bullpen to match up left vs right instead of having a clearly defined closer role. No secret why...Reed has been tough against righties and has gotten hit hard by lefties....gotta do what you gotta do.
