as a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan I have to share that I'm getting the same vibe from this MSU team as I got two years ago from the Giants team that won the World Series. Both teams had/have nasty top to bottom pitching and bad offenses. The Giants that year got hot with their bats during the post season and they won it all. If State can get timely hitting for the next month I can see it happening. MSU's team ERA in the last 200+ innings or whatever has been ridiculous. Pitching like that can end up doing funny things like winning the whole damn thing.
I think MSU can win the National Championship this year...

this team is white hot right now. No way you can predict that next years team will peak at the right time and any team will have trouble duplicating what this team has done the second half of this season. If the NCAA doesn`t just screw us to death we`ve got as good a shot as we`ve had since the eighties.
and we won't be the only SEC school it happens to. The animus directed towards the SEC in baseball may be worse than it is in football... other than that, I totally agree with your post. Put simply, if we don't somehow get hosed by the committee, I'll be VERY pleasantly surprised!
we still need more offense overall to have a decent shot at it. Even in the SEC tourney where we won 5 games we only scored more than 4 runs once (due to the 9th inning implosion by Arkansas) and won 3 one run games. When you constantly cut it that close it is just difficult to keep coming out on top. On the flip side though we will definitely be in every game so you never know what might happen. Would definitely be nice however if we could give our pitching staff a breather every now and then with some runs though.
that. ya'll pitching is awsome and the team is hot, hot, hot at the right time. i think you have a very legitimate chance to get to, go deep into and maybe win at omaha. we'll be watching from our living rooms with interest.........................

you say that since he's the recognized authority on them. Is our "Tournament Championship" really a Championship or does he only recognize regular season championships and ours is just a post season tournament win?
