I think the key for MSU this weekend is

pressure the QB. We have struggled to get pressure from our front 4 over the last couple of years, but maybe that'll change this weekend. I think our LB and DL are good enough to stop their running game, but I'm worried about our secondary if they have all day to throw the ball.

McPhee/Kyle Love are going to have to win this game for us. McPhee getting pressure, and Love stopping the run.

I don't know if you saw Auburn this weekend, but their freshman RB Onterio McCalebb was an absolute stud. Throw in Tate and Fannin, and Auburn's running attack looked vicious.
And even though he looked good against La Tech, rag arm Chris Todd has yet to really prove himself against a real defense. We have got to shut down the run and force the inexperienced guy under center to beat us with his arm. Based on the way our secondary played against JSU, this, unfortunately, may be exactly what happens.

I think both teams will have the same objective. Stop the run and make the QB win the game with his arm. Both teams have several good running backs. It may come down to which team's QB has the best day. It's funny how similiar we are to Auburn. Don't they use two different QBs also? Which team has the advantage at QB? This game has "nail biter" written all over it. It may come down to special teams. We'll see Saturday, but I like are chances.</p>

,,,when awbie makes it thru the first line of defenbse....the secondary MUST be there to stop them from the large gainer. Offensively....#24....thats it.

If our d line dosen't pressure their qb and they're given time to sit back and throw the ball i don't care who the quarterback is he's gonna pick us apart. Our secondary is weak at best and won't be able to contain coverage for more than 3-4 seconds. If the right half of our o line dosen't learn the concept of blocking by saturday we're gonna be in for a long one on the plains.

I think the performance of our offense is more critical than the performance of our defense. I'm confident the defense will play well.

The key is going to be how productive our offense is. Mixing the run and the pass to keep them off balance and scoring when we have the opportunity to do so. Minimizing offensive turnovers. Stuff like that ....

If our special teams can play well that will certainly help. A few defensive turnovers wouldn't hurt either. But, I think the game is going to be determined by how well our offense performs.

How is Chris Todd "inexperienced" if we're calling Tyson Lee experienced? Chris Todd actually played ALL of last year.

what we need to do is keep that under 100-yds total. If we can do that and force Todd to make plays under a decent amount of pressure ( which by the way...he was under "0" pressure from La. Tech ), we have a chance to actually win this game. If Auburn runs for 200-yds....we are DONE! Regardless of how good our offense does. I think we will score points, but if Relf/Lee gets pressured....we will struggle......I predicted the score earlier to be 34-24..I am backing off that a bit and still call for a MSU upset at 24-20...
