I'm not sold on UK being anything better than they were last season. Last season, they came very close to beating UGA after we beat them. The accepted narrative was that our game was a fluke because they were looking past us to UGA and they were a good team. Then, their season fell completely apart.

I don't see UK as being any better than they were last season. They scored some points on Ole Miss but they never looked like they were going win that game. I think UK is UK and always will be.

I agree.

We also need this game badly before the schedule gets harder.

One of the biggest must-wins of Beamer's tenure.

We are already in for a disappointing season. A loss here sets us up for a disastrous season, likely Beamer's worst season as head coach.

UK and Coastal are the only two games left we should be favored in. I think Clemson is going to come in with another loss or two and our game is going to be huge to them. OU has looked good the little I have seen them and Bama is still loaded with talent. aTm beat ND but hasn't done much else, this weekend against Auburn should show a lot about them. Ole Miss and LSU are both going to be tough to beat.

I'm thinking UK, aTm and Coastal might be the games left I feel any confidence about.

A loss here could cause the team to give up on the season. 6-6 would be out the window and 3-9 could be a real possibility.

3-9 would be terrible in any season but in a season that started with a top 15 ranking, playoff appearance talk and a Heisman candidate qb, it would be sickening and actually feel worse than simply having a 3-9 season.

We will definitely not be favored in any other SEC games outside of UK. We should be expect to be stout underdogs in every game. I would peg Clemson as a tossup at this point. However, it would not surprise me if Clemson switches to the backup QB at some point and that could inject some life into them.

Coastal should be an easy win, but if we go into that game with 5 straight losses, who knows what the mentality of the team will be (see Citadel 2015).

If we don't, we are done.
Beamer should be putting the team on notice, especially the offensive staff, that our plan and effort need to be top notch this week.

Regardless of the situation, it's a must win for us. If we lose, our season will literally fall apart.

Looking at Clemson's schedule, they will probably rip off 4 wins in a row to go to 5-3 going into the FSU game which is at Clemson. If they manage a win there, they have Wofford and Louisville before they come to WB and would likely be 8-3. They would be back to feeling good about themselves and could easily be back in the ACC hunt with only 2 conference losses. They will roll into WB feeling good and wanting revenge for last season.

Now, if they lose to FSU and are 7-4 and out of the ACC championship picture, they may have packed it in for the season and we will have a chance since that game will be our season defining game.

UK is a game that could be the turning point for the season - in either direction.
I don't think a win will automatically start a six game winning streak but a loss would probably cut the heart out of the team. A win and 6-6 is a possibility, a loss and 3-9 becomes a real possibility.

Oddly enough, after some sleep, I feel like the Mizzou game gives hope that we can beat Ky. MIzzou is not a bad team. Despite being absolutely ATROCIOUS offensively, we had a chance to win that game near the end, in Mizzou, at night. I don't think Ky is as talented as Mizz. If we find SOME semblance of an offense - granted that may be asking a lot - we can win this Saturday.
This staff has to pull their heads out of their collective rears - if they do, we may eek out a 24-23 or 24-17 type game. Fingers crossed, not holding my breath.

We can win that game without turning the season around. We also can't turn it around without winning it.
I agree on the former.

Not so much on the latter. If we lose to UK and drop to 0-3 in conference play against our easiest opponents, we are virtually a lock to go 0-8 in conference play. I don't know that a win does much to turn our season around, but it's a game we absolutely must have if we hope to turn the season around.

We know our offensive issues are critical at this juncture. The UK game will tell us if they are terminal.

-9 says hello.

Seriously, if we can somehow find a running game things could get better quickly.

I think that, if you reexamine the latter, you might come to agree with it. I said we CAN'T turn the season around without beating Kentucky.

We're overrated and under coached. I have virtually no faith in the staff, and we are inexcusably untalented in certain positions, like RB. If we lose, which is a distinct possibility, we're looking at 3-9.

I feel similar to the Vandy game in that this an opportunity to reset our season, except that we now have added 2 more games to our body of work. What seemed like maybe fixable issues after SC State now appear to be terminal.

If we win, I would expect a 17-14/16-13 type game you'd see between 2 bad teams.

I'm sticking with 31-17, UK is not a good team.

Not implausible.
