Being able to sit in 114, 4 rows back close enough to hear Pike yelling out plays probably had something to do with it - but I had a great time tonight despite the loss.

Hope I was loud enough and I look forward to next year.

It was a very entertaining college basketball game.in front of a crowd that supported Rutgers from the beginning to the last missed shot. The team clearly lacks the killer instinct to put games away in the last minute of games.

I thought it was a good game because it was so close the entire game. Made it exciting. I was very surprised that Rutgers lost, especially when ahead by 5 with 19 seconds left. Hofstra just kept hitting the basket, I never saw anything like it.
I was there and said the same thing. Hofstra must've shot 70% in the second half and hit everything they put up when the clock was running down. We played very well, we just ran into a team that managed to make every shot they took, including a banked 3 from lulu land.

Who’s got the stats on winning percentage for a team banks a three in at the RAC?

Banking a three is an omen for how the games going to go for that team.
Just not going to miss.

@fluoxetine ….any way to figure that out?
Correlation?

Just read this on the Hofstra board:
"Crazy stat, the only shot that Rutgers missed in OT was the last one (that hit a dozen rims)"

Dems da breaks....

it was great game for neutral observers especially
twitter is blowing up with neutral parties saying this was one of the funnest and best games they watched this year...said the same things last year with Notre Dame

guess what neither of those games are good for Rutgers fans...RU cannot win at the tempo, allowing Hofstra to dictate the pace of the game was a disaster in the making.

I thought it was a horrible game.

I realize that wasn't our usual defensive showing, but would you say that if the score was reversed?

It was a great game imo. You’re salty now I get it but sometimes the other teams makes plays and gets a little lucky too. Hang in there.

If you didn’t know that one team was supposed to be clearly better than the other, it must have been entertaining.

Hofstra is a very good team..they won that league and beat Charleston, just got tripped up in the regular season. That being said... Rutgers showed NONE of the strengths that made them a ncaa type resume, its

again the team didnt have the hunger need to fight for this win, they played with a ton of effort but no fire and Cliff took the night off no question

great game for what....i dont want to see RU giving up 88 points and 19 points in 5 and half minutes. Notre Dame was a great game too..what does that even mean

you know what was a great game..michigan....wisconsin and penn state, the team using their bread and butter to lock down games

Press should
Have slowed it down but we kept getting beat and they scored on it.
Surprised we went with it for as long as we did.

Can you believe how poised and how unintimidated they seemed from the get-go. It's like they punked us. I think you and I were watching a totally different game than all the other people who are praising RUs performance. And I was there with totally unobstructed view.

Sometimes you gotta tip your hat bac. They got a little lucky to banked threes late shot clock heave for a three. Contested makes. It was a great game. And we kept answering until the last one rimmed out. Just my opinion.

Maybe entertaining to non RU fan but It felt like this ending was inevitable all game. Playing at Hofstras pace, trying to trade baskets with a team that literally couldn’t miss. Zero defense. Up 5 with 29 seconds I knew in my gut they’d find a way to snatch defeat.

this this this.

we panicked somewhat in the first half after they punched us back. We settled down but one team was poised in the last minute of regulation but especially in overtime

The RAC crowd was incredible tonight...it was loud as any game and RU couldnt even get a stop in some key moments and im talking 5 minutes left so we could build a cushion. Hofstra never got flustered all the way to the end. They threw up a couple of prayers 3s and were still able to get the rebound on the last one for a win.

Confidence....and right after Paul is throwing full length court disaster waiting to happen pass...thats not poise.

RU shot well tonight but thats not our game, RU is never going to win trying to outscore a team. Cant put a freshmen in a spot where he has to knock down foul shots to win a game or take a high pressure drive to tie the game. Good lord two weeks ago he was riding pine. Derek was great tonight, our best player by far but I feel our coaching staff panicked and they forget why RU had success this year.

Agree 100%. It felt totally inevitable. The frustrating thing is that we know that this team has the potential to play so much better on both sides of the ball and we have all seen it when they show up. It's not even about winning necessarily. Because we've seen them play complete games on a very high level and still lose the game. This was not one of those games.

They didn’t really need to play any better on O. Putting up 85 pts on 50% from the field (40% from 3) should be enough to win any game. They simply couldn’t get stops. All game. Aside from the first 5 mins, Hofstra scored at will. In 33 games, Hofstra has only shot the ball like that 2 other times. That should not happen against a supposedly elite defensive team. Agreed, just not a complete game.

Rutgers putting up 85 points means that they have been driven out of their prototypical successful game plan.

We were so slow getting back on defense so many times and they seemed to score on even wild long 3’s plus 2nd and 3 chance points.
Side point- I think Wolf’s hands are better than Cliff’s. Doesn’t fumble like Cliff does on some rebounds.
