I thought the Croom story was well done...

he took a couple of shots at the Ninja but that's expected. There were many parts I took issue with, I don't think he laid the foundation for Mullen. I've read Mullen's comments about how poorly coached the players were on "technique" and the fact that Mullen took basically the same team in 2009 and should have been in a bowl game. I give Mullen most/all of the credit on our recent success.

Mullen would have succeeded given what Croom inherited . Croom was just a publicity stunt...nothing more.

It's also classless

To take shots at your ex-boss like that in public. He should have admitted that he didn't win enough and that he did the best he could do and leave it at that. Regardless of the situation, if you don't win games as a coach, it's your fault.

It's not like Greg Byrne fired a 10-3 coach because he didn't like the guy.

Haven't seen it, on again at 9

I know that Mullen inherited almost no wide receivers, which he desperately needed.

Croom seemingly did not even know that he had Lance Long in the house.

i think croom should have been fired on the principle of the matter that in his 5th year as coach we were starting a walk on at QB.

And after you lose to your rival in the final game like we did, there is no way any HC would be retained for another year. No way.

And again the truth wasn't presented. Croom says he was "aksed to resign" but he fails to mention he wasn't fired at first. His offensive coordinator was fired but Croom's stubbornness is what ultimately fired him. Croom fired himself. Croom refused and that's when he was asked to resign. I could of done without the JaMarcus Russell highlights btw. Damn that LSU team was nasty.

Well, to me

being asked to resign is pretty much the same as being fired- it's just a nice way to do it. I guess there's probably a difference as far as human resources and benefits go vs say being fired like Petrino. But the end result is the same. You ain't working there no more.

If Croom refused to resign, Byrne would have just fired him anyway.

That was the worst beat down that I've witnessed in our history as a program...

I blame Croom for that...A couple of things stick out about that day for me. Watching a raw Chris Relf trying to survive at the end of the game and sitting at Chilli's in Oxford with Ms. BogeyGolfer watching the 2nd half and thinking about our bleak future. Thank God for the Ninja and Mullen.

I was only able to catch the last 40 min or so. What thought was a little strange about this was they didn't have any interviews from any of our local media guys that I saw. No Bobby Cleveland or Marcello or any of the local reporters that covered the team from day to day. All I saw was Chris Low and Finebaum, the least two knowledgable folks to ask about MSU.

Overall it wasn't too bad. We didn't come off looking like ******** for "asking him to resign", which is what I was kinda fearing.

I just finished up watchig it

and thought they didn't really paint the picture that actually occurred. They showed all of his a big wins... what about all of his awful losses? He was a good man, but an awful coach.

I thought it was well done too

But like others, I had the question; how much time did Chris Low, Finbaum, and Tony Dungy spend studing MSU football in 04 to 08?

Also, why was he going to be a "token" hire at State but not at Alabama?

Also, I thought it was interesting the former Bama coach said, in Croom's first start at center, he came to the sideline crying and saying he couldn't block the noseguard. That sounds about right.

While they did mention the 45-0 loss and try to paint the picture that we had a knee jerk response, they did allow Byrne to mention the 114 ranked offense for 2008. I remember thinking as the 08 Egg Bowl spiraled ridiculously out of control.......this might get him fired. Then when I heard him say in his post game interview.....as if he had no concern......"I don't know what happened." WHen he said that......I knew he was going to be fired. You don't embarrass the hell out of a university in a rivalry game and have no answers or at least some ******** to float out there to settle the anger.

Someone had a post about the worst losses in MSU history

the other day (right before the season started ) and I was suprised not to see that LSU game listed. Alot of posters went the route of the Troy game, Tulane, MAine, etc. but that game against LSU was the WORST beat down I have ever seen an MSU team take. I wont ever forget Saban taking a knee right before half . I knew at that moment that Croom would never sustain success at MSU.

Watched the first 25 or 30 minutes (half of it) and thought it was boring and predictable...bringing up all that racial strife from the '60's...turned it off and went to bed.

It definitely showed the darkest days at MSU...

I thought it was funny how he was blaming others for his losses and mishaps in life and never once said this was my fault or I take all responsibility. You could definitely tell he is still pissed at MSU and at BAMA for leading him on. I couldn't help laugh at Lonnie Tinkle, Charles (Milton) D. Lee and Hening Fine Furs. Those years were a waste and an embarrassment. Thank God he is gone!

I remember turning it off in the 2nd quarter and going for a run. That one was

only rivaled by magic mike's 6 picks in tiger stadium. Just bad, bad football. Anytime any of us start thinking about talking trash around an LSU game, just let these gems sink back in your mind.

actually.............

Croom was well-liked by the Bryan Building staff. He was nice to everybody. He didn't get the job done as a coach but he was a good guy while he was here.

I watched it. It was alright, and I am indifferent about his time here. I am glad it is passed.

It reminded me more so that LT is a pos, and was the biggest problem for MSU athletics his entire tenure.

Any coach that showed disdain for the entire fan base and indirectly the state of Mississippi was not, is not, and never will be "a good guy"..gawd, can't believe we put up with him for five years.

I'm really glad Croom is gone. I'm glad we have a coach like Coach Mullen that is capable of doing what it takes to win, but if you think for a second that Mullen is not an arrogant ******** then you don't have much of a grip on life. I have friends to drink with so I don't need Mullen to be a drinking buddy. I need him to win games and as long as he does that he can stay as far as I'm concerned. Croom can't hold a candle to Mullen and even worse Hevesy in the arrogant department but I hope both stay.

Yes it was a home game and it was remarkably still close in the first half. Like 10-3 after a **** ton of turnovers.

different kind of arrogance. different kind of ********. mullen is arrogant and a ******** when it comes to football. croom was arrogant and a ******** when it came to they way he considered himself to be above reproach because he was doing us a favor by coming to coach our little school. you will just have to take my word for it.
