was that MSU would finish around 4th in the West. I know I saw at least one publication that said that. Am I wrong? If not, why all the consternation about how the season turned out? Your young guys (at least Bosssst) look pretty good.

6-2 and are now 7-6, expectations changed. They certainly did for me. I knew, and I hate to say it aGAIN, we would live and die by the 3 because that is the makeup of this team but at the same time, I didn't expect us to die.

that record was due to the early schedule. 4 of those 6 wins were against the 3 worst teams in the league.</p>

...you are correct, but if you indeed said that three weeks ago, you were one of the very few. The sunshine around here about basketball was pretty unbearable early on.

But I did think we could go 10-6 back when we were 6-2 (back then that was one of the lower predictions on this page). Now, I'm just hoping against all hope for 9-7.

that we had played the weaker part of the schedule but **** on everyone who got excited a few weeks ago when we were 6-2.

...that we'd be 7-9. So far MSU is playing one game better than I've expected. As far as what I would have expected after 6-2, I would have liked to have had the home win against Ole Miss.

from our teams but when they do well our expectations go sky high with the underlying feeling that we will probably crash and burn before the season is over. And when it happens we vent years of frustration over single games or season results.

South Carolina was predicted to finish 5th in the East. What about Tennessee? They predicted 1st. What about Mississippi's expectations- did they change once 3 of your top 6 players were lost for the year?

Once the season actually starts being played, things change. Preseason expectations were that this team was young and would be over-matched at times by good teams. After losses to Charlotte, San Diego, Texas Tech, Washington State, and an injury-plagued Mississippi team at home- we lost games in which we were by no means over-matched.

We are historically the worst football program and the 2nd or 3rd worst basketball program in SEC history.

We should want to do better, but we can't just flip a switch at State and be at the top of the SEC. It's never going to happen for us like that.
