I was amazed how little last night bothered me

I mean, i was pulling for UGA. But when it was all over I basically shrugged my shoulders and went to bed. Not too long ago I would have been pissed. NIL? Transfer portal? I’m finally becoming a grown up? State has been bad for so long I just can’t muster a give a ****?

Keenum was probably taking his makeup off and drinking a glass of warm milk in his robe getting ready for bed as Ole Miss kicked the winning field goal.

24 year old me would be punching a hole in the wall. 44 year old me was punching out to go lay down in the bed.

I told my wife the exact same thing last night. In my younger days, I would’ve been pissed as hell about last night. But it didn’t really bother me much. I was pulling for Georgia, of course, but once the game ended, I was fine. TBH, them winning the CWS one year after we did bothered me a lot more and still does; and I’m not even a big baseball fan. It’s because we had waited years and years for a natty to go along with our baseball tradition and fanbase, and they won it the very next freaking year to basically say 17 you. But we’re so bad at football right now, that their success doesn’t really bother me.

One of the single biggest flukes in sports history, as far as I’m concerned. And 17ing Oklahoma choked in the finals.

I’ve heard that Cohen was the one that fought the hardest to get them in as the last team in.

We own the rights to those people in most every other sport but football. And we don’t even try to succeed in football anymore. So, we 17ing deserve it.

I was just thankful to actually have an entertaining game unlike the 2 duds earlier in the day yesterday
I would have been ok with UGA extending that lead in the 3rd like they should have & putting it away early.

Ole Miss is built for this era of college football. We aren’t. We have to get serious about football or decide we are going to be a baseball school exclusively.

Let’s check back on this in about 2/3 years. You could be right but they will likely take a step back and we will take a step forward.

How the 17 are they "built for this era of college football" any more than we are? They're a 2nd rate university in the poorest state in the nation with a small, poor alumni base relative to the big boys and a delusional fan base full of the worst kinds of people. If anything, their success should be proof that we can also succeed in this new era. The only thing they have over us is leadership who knows what the hell they're doing. We haven't had that in years.

I don't really care that they are successful. Good for them. But it makes me that much sadder knowing they, IU, Vandy, and others have figured it out and are more than competitive while we are a laughingstock. Our leadership has failed us. Any team in the SEC is capable of Top 25 talent acquisition combined with quality coaching if competent people are setting the tone. That's a true statement before NIL and is even more true now. Keenum needs to FITFO or GTFO.

Football is the only sport that really counts in the grand scheme of things as all of the other sports, including baseball, need it to be successful. They should have renamed The Dude to Dan Mullen park…….. or maybe Cousin Eddies Trailer Park. Without MSU Football success under Mullen, I doubt it gets built

Fact:

Your body is instinctively saving the rage and frustration for tonight. It knows that it cannot handle two nights in a row the level of disappointment it has in store.

On a serious note, it helps to keep perspective that we did recently move from one coaching disaster (Lemonis) to a coaching home run (the Chameleon).

44 year old me didn’t finish. Made it to halftime and went to sleep. Still exhausted from having to stay up until midnight the day before. I won’t be worth a damn for at least a week

You answered your own question. Run of the mill middle class Ole Miss fans used to give $100 handshakes like it was nothing. Now that it’s legal to openly pay players, they are thriving.

They have the sixth largest collective in college football by number of donors.

What they do has no bearing on my life whatsoever. I went to the women's game at The Hump last night (blew out Cohen's Kittens), came home and read a cookbook that my daughter gave me for Christmas and turned the lights out about 9:15. I got up this morning, drank coffee and after about an hour heard the score on tv and said oh well....... Life's much easier when you don't give a damn about them instead of obsessing like some of you do.

I guess I'm one of the few fortunate state fans who don't base my happiness on how ole miss is doing. I wanted UGA to win and was dumbfounded at how much Georgia looked like they were being coached by Jeff Lebby. I was also pretty damned impressed by chambliss and ole miss's defensive adjustments.

Best part of all of this is that none of it has anything to do with us.

17 all that. I’ve known too many Confederate douche bags in my lifetime to not be bothered by that last night. They can say rent free but 17 that they earn all the hate that’s in my heart. 17 them.
They've earned the hate. But because karma is their biggest rival, they'll be back to eating shlt sandwiches soon enough. That's how it works.

GA fans need to be a little concern. I don't think they will win another natty with Kirby. He has the best talent now and can win a game because of his stupid decisions. Okay he had three DB's out and his offensive Center. That hurt but when you have a top 3 recruiting class year after year it should be next man up. I think college football left him behind like it did Saban. Bash away.

Like I've said, CFP means nothing to me. Just some programs attempting to buy a Championship. Love that their fans are having to shell out the money to go to 4 bowl games! Are these folks mortgaging their homes?

With NIL and the portal, it doesn’t bother me nearly as much as it used too, but it still made me want to throw up. I wouldn’t be for those bastards if they were playing Russia.

I know I’m in the minority but it’s been so long since I’ve lived in MS and been around Ole Miss people that I’ve lost a lot of the hate. I mostly get bored with the same teams being good, so I don’t like UGA, Bama, OSU, and, to a degree, Oregon winning. I want Indiana to kill everybody
