I told him congrats on the signing class and thanks for his hard work. I said I was excited about this signing class and the direction the program is headed, and he said he was too. I also told him thanks for staying in Starkville, and asked if there had been any truth to the rumors about him joining up with Sumlin. He said he had been real close to going to A&M. I also asked if he wanted to go back to Oklahoma, he said, "only to be the head coach." Later on I asked him what made him stay at State, he just smiled real big and said, "well, that's a tough question to answer." He then told me that he and his wife really like living in Starkville, and "the grass isn't always greener on the other side, and if it is, the water bill is probably a lot higher." Said he hates to move, and he plans to be here for a while.
On my next flight I sat by a scout for the trailblazers, that was an interesting flight as well. He showed a lot of the stuff he keeps track of during a game. I asked him if thought any refs tried to influence the game. He said no way, but he also said he was very shocked when that ref got busted a few years back. He predicted Heat over OKC in the finals.
