on TLC and they showed the MSU/UAT game when some parachuter crash landed on the south end zone. They didn't say how hurt he was, anyone at this game or remember what year it was? Looked like the west side didn't have an upper deck yet. This year when the did it at the Kentucky game looked like for a second we were going to have a repeat of that.

My roomate was a former paratrooper, and said after they announced there would be guys jumping in, he said "The Army would never let us jump in this wind.". Guy's shoot collapsed and he hit the field on both knees, broke both femurs, very ugly. There were 4 parachutists, 2 landed fine, one with the game ball, one wiped out, one pulled out and landed on sorority row. Oh, and we beat bama for the first time in 16 years, very memorable night.

of course I had a pint of Jim Beam in me that night (before the game), so maybe you & I were both impaired. Brought a couple of Bama friends with me to the game who didn't get home til about 3 or 4 that next morning (spent the night with my old man & was home by 1 myself). That's after getting their #8 arse (had only lost to UT) kicked by lowly MSU (who had a losing record).

one of the paratroopers sailed way over the stadium to fraternity row, one landed relatively well, and the third... well not so much. the wind was gusting so hard thst when he got level with the bowl of the stadium, the wind that was whipping from endzone to endzone, turned him and his chute parallel with the field and he just fell like a rock. i will never forget how quickly the whole episode of disaster occured. he left a divot in the endzone about 8 inches deep where his body hit the ground. i walked out there the next day and saw it with my own eyes. i have always thought that it was a miracle that he lived through that.</p>

That's always a great vomit inducing clip. I love how he's still fighting for a second or two before the "Oh 17" moment sets in.
