I watched Rubio on Fallon last night.

Too stiff, speeches too robotic and looks too young. And he has some financial baggage that is unimpressive. Of all the GOP candidates, Kasich is far and away the best, most electable in the general and has the most experience in governance. This surely means he has no chance of winning the primary.
I remember Bob Dole going on one of those late night talk shows. I don't remember if it was Leno or Letterman, and he was funny as hell. It was after he had already lost and I just remember thinking that he might have had a better chance if he had allowed more of that to show during the campaign.
I remember thinking exactly the same thing (about Dole).
Rubio probably will/does have decent appeal to the general masses. My impression of him, though, is he reminds me of a little kid, that no matter how well you show him he is wrong, he sticks to his erroneous argument and won't let it go and keeps trying to tell you how right he is. Stubborn and stupid.

Watch his Fallon appearance. It's not the same Rubio you see on the debate stages. He needs to take this approach from here on out.
I said the same thing about Dole and McCain. When Reps learn that personality matters, they win WH elections.
Only my opinion on Rubio not considering my differences I have with him on policy, the biggest problem I think he has if he makes it to the general election is attracting conservative dems and independents due to how he answers questions. He is very good in the sense of traditional politician as he pivots every question to what he wants to say and doesn't necessarily answer the point. The public is tired of this type of a politician at the moment. They want straight talk. Doesn't matter if the straight talk is looney or false as Trump has proven that. But appealing to a large portion of the electorate with his context, he will do which is about 30%. He has no shot for the liberl 30%. That middle 40%, he will get some but he might alienate more than what is needed.
Kasich looks like a ringer for VP, regardless who the candidate is. I know I would feel better with him there.
He's made some financial goofs, part of them dating back to his time as speaker of the House in FL. He double billed on some plane tickets (claims it was accidental and paid back one party), billed for some personal expenses (fixing his wife's minivan among them), but claimed the expenses were related to the party. I think he can be weakened by talk of his financial issues, especially when people are concerned about the deficit (shockingly only took 15 years to get there). His youth will be used against him I'm sure, but he's a strong candidate. I think he would do better than many in the general (Carson, Trump, Cruz, Fiorina, Paul). Basically, I'd give him about the same shot in the general as a Kasich or Bush, and maybe a slightly better shot than Christie. If I'm voting purely to get a good general election candidate, Rubio is in the running.
I'm voting for the general election. However, it just so happens that I fall into that 40% moderate category so the candidates that mostly align with my beliefs are Kasich, Rubio, and Christie.
I like him. I've met him a few times including a small fund raising dinner for Barbara Comstock last yr. He is real good in small crowds . Just a good guy . Great life story. I agree with most of his positions. Early I was a Scott Walker guy. But I'm definitely interested in Rubio now. Kasich , like him too. I feel he's too obscure for the top of the ticket. As conservative folks, fiscally at least, I think we have trouble if Rubio, Kasich or Christie are on the top of the ticket. Cruz wll be a problem Trump, another guy I like personally, would be interesting during the campaign against the dem candidate but not a good leader in the Oval Office. I love Carson. But he reminds me too much of Carter. Great man who would be way out of his element in DC.
Gordon has gotten to know Kasich due to his time at Ohio State and has real high praises of him.
