Some folks will point to that win over Alabama in 1980 as their favorite call by Cristil. For Ellis, it was Mississippi State’s 73-63 win over Cincinnati at Rupp Arena in the Elite Eight in 1996.
He was on his game, he was enthusiastic and it was such a huge thing for a chance to go to the Final Four. I thought that was a great broadcast that he did. I’ll never forget that they got a ball down on the baseline to (Erick) Dampier and he’s coming down that sideline and he jams it, and Jack goes wild. I’ll always remember that call.
