I get it. He could dry those tears with a handsfull of benjamins.
I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for head coaches with a 7-figure buyout. More for the assistants. But if you're in that business it's just par for the course. Just about everyone gets fired at one time or another. It makes me uncomfortable to think about this. I do not like people losing their job. I was ready to move on, but just hate the process.
That is true. It is also why I would never want to try to make a living in coaching. At the college level you can make a good living but I remember having a relative coaching in HS on a pretty meager salary and the BS he had to put up with parents wanting to have him fired because their kid didn't get enough playing time. Nope. Not doing it.I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for head coaches with a 7-figure buyout. More for the assistants. But if you're in that business it's just par for the course. Do you think he even watched the games? It would have to hurt at some level to see what was his team thrive like that after he was shown the door.
I have had the thought that he could take a smaller D1 job in SC. Lower stress and a helluva lot less pressure. Lots of small D1 schools within the state. Make a regional every few years. Concentrate on developing guys. All the while just keeping the program out of the ditch. He is leaving with a pocket full of money and he will not be unemployed long. I suspect next season he will be coaching at a D1 level school as a HC. He's one of those guys who resume looks really good but he's not as good as his resume.
I agree. He had to know he just wasn’t getting it done the last 4 seasons. Best thing for him & everyone was to pay the buyout & move on. Even if he never works again, he’s a rich man.I honestly think he’s relieved. Legitimately. Probably like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders.
Yeah, Lemon is not a bad coach, just maybe a little over average. I think he let the talent level slip to the point where we couldn't compete with the upper half of the SEC most of the time. With a CWS title on his resume, he could end up back in the Big 10 or out west somewhere.....and likely do ok if he can learn to recruit really well through the portal.I have had the thought that he could take a smaller D1 job in SC. I don't want our fans to poke the guy. He won us a national championship and I will be forever grateful for that. He's become a wealthy man from his years here, I'm sure he will land on his feet somewhere fast. His resume will get him another D1 job soon if he wants it.Do you think he even watched the games?
