the idea that we should play USM?

Well, Hell, we're playing Jackson State, so why the Hell not?

I'm actually not opposed to playing them every two years or so, but every year is a no go.

to playing USM, if it were a 3-1 Starkville-Hattiesburg ratio. Also, MState (oof!) should get 1/2 of the tickets at The Pebble.

LSU played Tulane at the Superdome last year, and I can't remember the deal, but I think they ended up taking home a good majority of the ticket revenue from the game. Still, Tulane came out better than they would have had they played some other no name home game, but LSU did play that game, and I remember hearing the ticket revenue deal and thinking it was interesting.

...the idea we should play USM.

It's just that since he is not from this part of the country, he's yet to educated on all the reasons he shouldn't play USM.

He's from Florida by way of New Hampshire.

So you can understand how he would be under the naive delusion that playing USM might actually result in something positive.

But rest assured the MSU fanbase will let coach Mullen know in no uncertain terms that me must get his thinking right on playing USM or else.

I know the LSU-Tulane deal is a 10-year deal with five games at each school's home stadium. I don't know the percentage or amount, but yes, LSU does get a portion of the gate when they play in the Dome. But it does work out for Tulane because they go from having maybe 10,000 people in the stands for their games to having 55,000+ in the stands for LSU.

And just for anyone who cares, Tulane never gets money from parking or concessions for any of their games - the Dome keeps those revenues - so LSU's take is ticket sales only.

Of course another reason why the deal works is that Tulane has next to zero chance of ever beating LSU.

Maybe he hasn't yet been neutered by the fear of losing to a perceived inferior opponent like the majority of state fans have. Why don't you delusionally arrogant fearful fans trust him on being willing to compete. That is what sports is about. The craziest thing I read on a state board implied that state should only schedule ooc games aginst powerhouse teams in order not to suffer embarassing losses to lower tier teams. The guy was not expecting to beat the good teams, just avoid losing to the bad ones. It is a new day in America and in Starkville, lets face our fears headon and if coach dan accepts a challenge, lets muster our courage and support him. STOP BEING SCARED.

it was always rumored that we would always play them in starkville. they wanted a home and home series or a series in jax with gate split 50/50.

not a good deal for us.
