to schedule better next season in basketball. If we are going to be a 20 win team- let's be a legitimate 20 win team. Let's drop a couple of the 250+ RPI teams and trade them in for a Texas A&M, a solid A-10 team, Tulsa, and other solid basketball teams. The UCLA trip was a big success this season. Let's get a good Big East team to play for a real good measuring stick game in December.

All it takes is to switch out a couple of **** games for a couple of quality games to make our SOS better and more leverage at Tourney time if we are taking care of business. It will also make your decision easier come March if it doesn't go as well as we all hope.

that killed us, it was losing to thoseweak teams that we should've easily beaten (Rider / WKU)......But, if we're going to lose might as well be to better teams.....

had we played 2 other solid teams instead of those ridiculous gimme games, our standing this season would be much more clear as well. Lose both- and we are 19-12 and it's pretty cut and dried we aren't a Tourney team. Win both- still 21-10 with a higher RPI and SOS and probably solidly in the Tourney due to more good wins

is it really doesn't matter about the schedule right now. We have bigger problems such as current assistant coaches. We need to get "coached up" with some new teaching of fundamentals as well as x and o's. Seems to be a bigger problem with managing the kids we recruit, they either are pissed off about their role or they just leave. This has to stop and I believe with new recruiters and new bench coaches would help Stans cause, Stans has proven he can win, he just needs to except he needs some help. The scheduling is an easy fix, but right now lets get the coaches fixed first.

even you agree Stans shouldn't be fired right now, he needs to make some changes now, at least it shows he is trying. You are talking about schedules, even IF we make the tourney we are probably one and done and I'm sure you same ole song will be played again. Surely you'd like to see some changes in the staff?

We need to cut back the number of 150 and greater teams. We need to find the 50 to 100 teams and play more of them. It would have helped. HOWEVER, losing on our floor to teams that we should have not lost is not acceptable.

The first game said all that it was about this season. Too much celebration before the game was a distraction and no intensity. I am disappointed in the bulldog nation for this season. I will be back to support them next season; but hope for a better schedule to help our team. What to do about chemistry will be interesting.

it has to be done in a smart way. You can't just tell Standsbury he has to hire new assistants- what if he refuses? He really can't be fired after this season whether he should be or not. And that would be an awful situation for the head coach and AD to be in a Mexican standoff heading into next season.

I would simply put it to him this way- "Coach, I am not pleased with the trend our basketball team seems to be taking. I'd like to see some changes made before next season to reverse that. The changes are all up to and what you think should be done. Philosophy changes, assistant changes, whatever it takes. But understand, if we aren't in the Big Dance in 2011, I'm going to bring in a new head coach."

i agree that we at least need to take more shots at top 20 teams. normally you'd expect ucla and western kentucky to be decent rpi games. i would have been fine with this year's schedule prior to the year if we had one more good team on it. i'd love to play someone like pitt or georgetown

All but says it right there. If he brings in new people and performs well then I have nothing to say, but if it's another disappointing season (with Sidney actually playing) then there's not a doubt in my mind that Byrne should go for the hat trick with Stans and send him on his way.

I agree we need to play a better OOC schedule, i was really happy when we scheduled UCLA this year, but this just happened to be the one year out of 50 that UCLA is this bad. is this the worst year UCLA has ever had in basketball? if not, its gotta be pretty close. that was just bad luck.

Quality wins: Kansas State and UTEP

We've also played 'Nova and West Virginia, but I'm not sure if there truly are "quality losses" in the eyes of the committee.
