Byrne, by all indications, is no dummy. I think he'll make a good hire when it's all said and done. Peterson would've been a good hire, to be sure (if that's even totally dead anyway). But, he certainly isn't the only good candidate out there. He's just the sexy pick at the moment. Bottom line is Byrne could run some guy you've never heard of out onto the stage and announce him as your new coach and you wouldn't trade him for anyone in the world if he produces wins next fall - not that the scenario I just presented worked out for us, but you get my point.

I don't think he can come in and get 9 wins next year anyway. I'm all for giving them 3 years, but if after 3 years they don't have us competing against EVERYBODY they need to be shown the door. We will be paying too much money to be considered a laughing stock, which is what we are now. I think the right coach can bring us respect and get the players we need to win.
