I tried to count the words to verify, but lost count...JK

Great read. To me, what Mullen and company are doing is the same thing a strip club does. You don't go in there and get the attention you get because the girls love you...in fact, they just want your money. Deep down, we all know this - but when we go in there we want to "live the dream." I buy what the coaches are selling because it makes me feel good. Hell yeah they hate Ole Miss...come here, Coach Mullen - let me stick another dollar in your pants.

Haven't read the article, but I do find the irony of someone writing 1,000 words about a 140 character tweet funny.

"It ain't the dipping, it's the counting that's got me"

anyone that knows what that's from is my kind of guy.

OK, both of these posts are a little disturbing. But pretty funny and also true.

Here's my issue:

"But his usage of the "black bear" trope (a reference to the Rebels' recent mascot modification) combined with commentary on a sport he doesn't coach or participate in certainly has MSU fans salivating."

Your article is the first time I heard about his tweet. It wasn't mentioned here before you posted. Sure, it got 40 retweets but the only replies @CoachSallach got on twitter was from Ole Miss fans. So I don't think he had us salivating, maybe OM fans?

Very well done. I love this line: "Rest assured, if they could simply receive a roster-by-mail that was roughly equal in talent to the competition's and then sit in the dark and watch film all day, they would." It's a reminder of the deal they sign with the devil to live the dream of coaching college ball. If you want to be a ringmaster in the greatest show on earth, you have to sell Amway on the side nonstop to get and stay there.

Excellent question. Freeze make a dubmass tweet and is laughed at by the whole nation and Godfrey decides to write 1,000 words about this.

Just formally read the column and the fact that you put in quotation marks a fictional sentence by a fictional MSU fan is pretty childish. Don't expect much different from you, however. And if you think MSU is salivating at that tweet, you've lost your mind. I read it when it happened, smiled, and moved on. Just another gentle jab in the long line of MSU-OM jabs that we throw back and forth every off season.

The 7th paragraph begged for a comma after "challenge." Just kidding-- I enjoyed it, even if I don't think coaches talking smack on twitter is a good idea.

Seriously, all that over the tweet of a tight-end coach? Why would anyone even follow a tight-end coach? Pretty damn sad.

Did you write 1000 words about Hugh Freeze's tweet of 3 BCS National Championship trophies?
Does anyone on this site follow Sallach? I've heard his name 3 times in the last 5 years. 1st, he's being retained as TE coach for Mullen's staff in 2009. 2nd, he's being moved to an administrative role (February-ish 2013). 3rd, he's being moved back to TE coach until next season when they can hire a decent TE coach (March 2013).

Doubtful.. Until our rebel friend shared his art with us, Sallach's name hasn't been on this board since March.

He has to find something to write about after Ole Miss went into their usual end of the baseball season mode.

Meandering and pointless as far as I can tell. You appear to want to advance the idea that college coaches don't really hate each other and it's all an act, but offer little evidence of that, outside of some irrelevant tweet between a coach and fan in an unrelated situation.

It's really a shot at MSU fans. You want to paint us as a group of people who cares, applauds, and approves of this sort of thing, when in actuality, we don't. Or at least I don't. I'd like for our coaches to shut the hell up. For one, we got our *** kicked on the field. Secondly, on paper, Ole Miss kicked our *** in recruiting (when is the last time Sallach can brag about a big haul of all people?).

To summarize, you just wanted to take a shot at MSU fans and attempts to paint an entire fanbase with that brush ("certainly has MSU fans salivating"). Next time, try to pretend to maintain some objectivity and find something interesting to write about.
