Since the local news out of Memphis is terrible, Can a weatherdawg let us know if we are getting plowed with ice tonight? Might need to make an emergency liquor store run.

When in doubt the answer is always yes. There are some things you simply do not leave to chance.

As of now, if you're south of Memphis but north of an Oxford to Corinth line, you're gonna get some ice, but not significant. If you're below that line, it's mostly rain. If you're north of Memphis, it's looking like the apocalypse is upon you.

In any scenario, an emergency liquor store run is appropriate.

The winter storm watch has now extended far into MS, yesterday it just barely reached into TN. I have a feeling my drive to work tomorrow may be a little iffy.

If you live in MS keep an eye on next Monday and Monday night. GFS is showing a very significant winter storm during that period...especially over the delta region. And I can't even mention what it's showing for AR.

I take that back the Ice storm warning has been extended to Desoto county. I beater stop by the store at lunch for a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk. The liquor cabinet is well stocked as usual.

Don't forget the milk, puzzles, smores ingredients, and above all else, Toilet Paper, because we all know you have to crap more when there's ice out there.

egg, milk and bread. i mean, if you ate a loaf worth of french toast while stuck inside for only one day, wouldn't you need an entire roll for the mess that was to come.

Did people uninstall the waterhose bidets that they put in in the spring? Why are people still buying toilet paper?

This morning it was showing over 10 inches of snow

The GFS, I believe, had a foot in the Arkansas delta, and a band of 6+ inches across north Mississippi.

This means it will be rain and 33 degrees, because I've seen that movie many times.

The GFS is off the reservation with regards to snowfall over the south. For Starkville, it is showing over 19" spread over the next 17 days. For parts of AR it is over 30" Do I believe it will actually snow this much? Nope. Do I think we will see some snow/sleet/freezing rain the next week or so? Yep. Just not sure how much, but it would not surprise me for us to get at least one significant winter storm before the calendar rolls over to March.

GFS has been insanely bullish this whole time on cold and snow. At one point it was showing a low of -15 for Memphis this weekend.

We were in the lower 70s today. Memphis is about 160 air miles essentially due west of here and they're now at 37. We have 71. That's a huge contrast, and it's probably not going to change much until some time tomorrow. The colder air basically stops at the Mississippi/Alabama line.

Should a hard freeze come our way, take the proper precautions needed. Should you have trouble in the Jackson area, I’ll knock something off the bill if you give me a GTHOM! Top-Notch Plumbing Service (601)573-5872

Liquor Store Run....

I must be clairvoyant, all knowing, or something,

because I did that without checking the weather, ...this time.

I do respect the Nostradamus quatrains.

It’s been icing up in northwest Arkansas for two days now. Schools and businesses closed. Lots of bad wrecks. Supposed to be even worse around Little Rock area with up to half an inch of ice.

This system coming in Sunday/Monday is apparently bringing up to a foot of snow according to some models/projections. One meteorologist from Tulsa said we could get up to 18”. The highs are around 12 degrees with lows in the negatives. It’ll definitely be cold enough. Forecast says we won’t get above freezing until next Friday which would make it 10 straight days below freezing. Gonna be interesting this next week with multiple shots of a good snow storm.
