CC has less than half the population of Morris. CC is solid, and they happen to land in the lower enrollment end of 4A.

Morris is near the upper enrollment end of 4A and was fortunate to get their high level transfer at QB.

Most neutral observers knew that Morris would win by a couple scores. There’s no need to be a douche bag.

There is an arrogance that has always existed in that town and everyone in the area (except for you apparently) knows this. A little humble pie will serve them well.

I’m a Wilmington graduate, and have lived in Morris for the past decade. I don’t think Coal City is much different from anyone else when it comes to community support and pride.

I had no problem with jab....all in good fun.

Only thing I didn't get was the obvious taunt after the CC td. Pretty sure there was all kinds of trash talk going on,but that didn't help as Morris got great field position and scored.

Never understood this Doctor......Morris double the population of CC yet only 200 more students. I've lived here 44 years and with the exception of a few years when my kids attended Morris and there were about 1,000 students,Morris is always about 840-925 students.

An extra round of playoff football will bring a significant amount of revenue to both the IHSA and its member schools. It never would have been approved if it didn't.

What's up with cheap shots at CC I've been to 20-25 games there going back to the early 90s and never had a bad experience. Morris should beat them 8 or 9 times out of 10.

The proposal for expanded playoffs came about due to teams leaving conferences because they were scared they couldn't get 5 wins and teams were scared to schedule tough non con games for fear of not getting 5 wins. Playoff gate wasn't a factor.

You're talking about a scenario that existed 20 years ago. The schools are similar in enrollment and play 4a football now. I assumed you knew this. Then again your the same guy who claims to be a Morris fan yet trashes them every chance you get. You also claimed this was Coal City's year and would go undefeated in the regular season. They will finish as expected, 7-2. Which is completely fine.

Approximate enrollment at Morris is close to 900, Coal City is 650. Both 4A, but different ends of the class. Glad you feel that this was Morris' super bowl, but those of us who have been around for a while expect more.

How hard is this to grasp? The IHSA and money has nothing to do with this. The proposal was made by teams that were sick of the fight for 5 wins and teams leaving tough conferences and/or trying to find easy non conference games to get to 5 wins in order to make the playoffs.

The IHSA played no part in the decision. It was proposed and voted on by the member schools. The IHSA just enforce the decision.

Coal City is the only school in the ICE that isn’t losing enrollment over the past decade. Wilmington and Braidwood are both under 400 now.

Coal City also has Diamond, which isn’t that big, but has been growing steadily.

Coalers are in a tough spot in football. They are a pretty small fish in a big 4A pond. I think they are almost certainly a top 10-ish team, but they clearly are a decent amount behind Morris, and then you have Rochester and Montini…
