ICE Power Rankings
That middle pack of the ICE is really getting hard to gauge, heck even the very bottom is a challenge. 3-6 is completely up for grabs and I would say the same for 7 and 8.
1) Wilmington - Still on top until beaten
2) Coal City - Small bump in the road against Morris, but I don't see a challenge (not yet at least) until week 9 for the ICE championship
3) Peotone - Their two wins hold a little more weight than Manteno's, at least in my opinion. Peotone has also given up the second fewest points (9) only behind Wilmington's 7.
4) Manteno - Could be argued for the 3 spot, but I think a better placement will be determined here soon. Would have liked to see more points put up against an awful Plano team.
5) Lisle - Lisle is scoring. They also aren't giving up a ton of points either. I'm not sure that their two wins mean much as of right now and I know by week 6 they will have lost twice, but this could shape up to be a nice season for the Lions.
6) Reed-Custer - I did not drop RC solely because of the loss to St. T, because I do think they are a sneaky good team. I would have liked to see them keep that game closer though. I just think Lisle is trending up right now and RC will have to prove themselves in the next couple of weeks.
7) Streator - Streator scored a lot against Ottawa. That's really the only thing putting them here over Herscher.
8) Herscher - That Canton loss still doesn't sit well with me. They also got destroyed against Mac and I would have liked to see at least some points for the Tigers in that one.
Reed-Custer (1-1) @ Streator (1-1) - I think this game will tell a lot about Braidwood. Beside the super class at Braidwood a few years back, this has always been a close game actually. Streator has earned a few wins against Braidwood since 2019 as well. If Braidwood is able to put it on them here I will feel more comfortable about them going forward. I'm not sure if they will be able to do that or not, but I do see RC coming out victorious. Streator is able to keep it close for a little bit and then RC pulls away. RC 45 Streator 32
Coal City (1-1) @ Lisle (2-0) - Lisle will come back to earth after this one. CC will have a bad taste in their mouth after the loss to Morris and they will come out and take care of business. I will be curious to see if Lisle can score like they have been against CC though. I don't think it will be a shoot out and I think CC clocks them. Coaler 42 Lisle 14
Manteno (2-0) @ Herscher (0-2) - Manteno should have no problems here and Herscher continues their downward slide. Manteno 35 Herscher 18
Wilmington (2-0) @ Peotone (2-0) - GOTW! If Peotone can keep it close that will be a great sign that the Tone really is back. Their defense has been good as I previously mentioned, but those offenses are not to the level of the grinding double wing of Wilmo. Wilmington controls this one and wins with ease. Wilmo 42 Peotone 21
