I'd rather see a freshman out there trying and making mistakes at safety

rather than seeing Nickoe Whitley as a senior out there making mistakes. I also know that the times we play zone defense, we get zero pass rush. Plenty of holes to fill...but I'd rather play young guys if they are both gonna make mistakes.

I agree a little bit.

Nickoe is a junior by the way. But he is our best FS by far. Other guys aren't ready. But I would like to see Zac Jackson and Jay Hughes a bit more. Hughes made some good plays tonight.

Whitley may be our best, but he's not our only one. We have some young guys that will have to learn, but experience is the best teacher. If Whitley is gonna be out of position and miss tackles constantly he isn't helping. I understand that he's not our only problem but I say play the young guys a little more. Cody Prewitt for TSUN isn't ready either but he's learning on the field. I know they probably don't have anyone else. But we have some young guys that could I imagine know how to play a two deep...?

Isn't Arrington his backup? I know he's listed as FS on roster behind Nickoe. IMO Arrington has been good at times and was mostly excellent tonight. Starting to really "get it". Reminds me of Slay's progress last year. We will have to find a place on the field for him next season.

Sucks... Whitley had(s) such incredible potential... He just isn't even close to the same right now. Look forward to getting some of the new guys into the mix next year(Antoine, Coman, etc...)

Go back and watch the last third down of LSU's first drive. Nickoe knocked their big *** fullback backwards into the hole, and we stuff the run. He isn't the player he was, and I think he plays with emotion (not always good if we get down), but he definitely needs to be on the field.

Hughes did surprise me some tonight.

Whitley has always taken bad angles, he just had maybe a bit more speed pre-injury to make up for it - and he was playing alongside a more experienced safety to boot.

Seems to me like all of you are riding Banks and Slays jock bc they have interceptions. Just as soon as they make 1 mistake, they will be on the ishlist as well. You guys make me sooo sick with your antics!

Whitley does not need a boot! He is a great player coming back from a challenging injury...please!

Safties are killing us...

Everybody talks about how bad the DL has been but the Safties have been just as bad. They are constantly out of position. Yes, Whitley will come up and lay a lick but he has just been bad in pass protection and overall hasn't been that great against the run either. Broomfield is always out of position as well. They have killed us the last 3 weeks. We have two really good corners but they still need a little help from the safeties over the top. I think Hughes is starting to look really good and Arrington seems to be coming around.

Whitley will be good next year. He started the season out of shape in my opinion. A ruptured Achilles isn't impossible to come back from, just takes time & patience and probably resulted in him not taking part in off season conditioning like everyone else.

I think for the remainder of this season we'll see more broomfield in a CB role with Arrington or Hughes playing safety. Love was getting picked on way too much as our nickleback, as does wells when he tries to cover a WR.

Uh, I think Banks did make a mistake against Bama. And people on here took up for him, saying he wasn't 100%. You need to go back to Gene's page if you want sunshine pumped up your ***

Ed Zachary. Injuries do not affect the angles you take or biting on play action, it just gives you the ability to recover faster.
