Ideal lineup for State when 100% healthy?

A few threads have questioned what the lineup will look like when Robson and Alexander get back 100% healthy, so I thought I'd take a shot at a potential lineup.

What about this?

CF Robson (.372)
RF Mangum (.422)
C Kruger (.333 5HR)
1B Lowe (.323 3HR)
LF Humphreys (.338 4HR)
DH Rooker (.333 3HR)
3B Collins (.267 7HR)
2B Gridley (.287 2HR)
SS Alexander (.233 2HR)

That leaves Marrero out, giving us a weaker arm behind the plate, but his bat's gone cold.

Also doesn't improve the Collins deficiencies at 3B, but I think you have to keep his power in the lineup.

This doesn't account for the righty/lefty games Cohen likes to play, but it's pretty solid top-to-bottom, with the exception of Alexander. However, I like the Alexander/Gridley pairing in the middle, so I'll take it.

nevermimd. Rethinking

I wonder if Kruger can play 3rd. I like Marero at C. Definitely need to have Kruger catching either Saturday or Sunday games. Your line up looks good though.

I hear you on Marrero's arm, but his bat hasn't been good last few games. He was 1-for-14 at LSU, when everyone else was hitting it well. I hated to see him come up with bases loaded and 2 outs in the 8th on Sunday. Sure enough, easy pop fly.

If that was the starting lineup I would put Robson in the 6 hole.

Why? Because he's got the second highest avg. on the team and 25 points higher than the next closest average? You want him to have less at-bats and bury his speed in the lineup? Makes sense.

Maybe the non-starter between Rooker/Kruger pinch hits for Alexander late in the game, then slide Gridley over to SS and put Stovall in at 2B?

Maybe 7th is better.

I really like

Luke at SS and Gridley at 2B, too. I wish we'd give Luke another chance. The kid can hit. I know he started off slow, but I think he'd do well, if given more ABs. His glove is excellent, too.

This is the strongest combination in both phases. 2B is not consistent at the moment.

Been a long time since we had more good bats than would fit in a 9-man lineup. Kind of a nice problem to have.

I think you're right, we're probably good enough at the plate overall that we'd be ok strengthening the infield a bit.

However, if we've got a guy like Sexton on the mound who's sitting hitters down every inning, I say we load the lineup with hot bats and take our chances.

This is way more fun than last year, huh?
