I'm sure you being an Alabama fan remember the Means case. he didn't have to sit a game because he never knew about the money being paid.

Of course, I actually believed that story, this one, not so much.

Did Cecil Newton have to sign any kind of scholarship paperwork for Cam? That could also be a sticking point if that is the case. I know out of high school the parent or guardian has to sign.</p>

I doubt that is needed for JUCO since they are of legal age to sign contracts by then.

And I can't blame them with the chance to play for the NC. They will hope for leniency, claiming ignorance and innocence. I think ultimately the NCAA rules Cam ineligible, at least from the Georgia game and on, because they cannot set theprecedent that there are no repercussions for a parent seeking signing money as long as the child or school can claim ignorance. </p></font></font>

They can take into account any mitigating circumstances they want. They can choose to ignore the violation all together if they feel like it. Hopefully, they will understand what a can of worms is rolling around on the floorboard.

If this goes nowhere and I was a father/agent, I would solicit money from every university I could, except from the one that my kid really wanted to play for. What are they gonna do if you cash the check but your kid goes elsewhere?
