If a UK player was to take a knee during the National Anthem...

Well, since the few players sitting or kneeling intend it to be a sign of disrespect to their Country, we have to accept it at face value. (I.e., it is not debatable).
I hate it when sports figures mix political or social debates with their appearances during games or as a representative of the University. At the very least, it shows that their minds are not 100% on the game -- which is not fair to their coaches and fellow players. It is also disrespectful to force your "protests" on those in attendance to watch something that is decidedly not political (sports). It doesn't even matter if I might agree with you. Wrong place, wrong time.
Now what you do in your free time when you do not have a captive audience is completely up to you. Have at it. Go to a game as a spectator and stay seated during the National Anthem. Organize student marches, whatever. But not while wearing your team uniform for the University. Heck, even during the recent Olympics (which ARE somewhat political at times), there were two great examples of how simple respect should be accorded. There was the USA athlete who stopped his field event and stood at attention when he heard the USA Anthem being played in the background and then there was Usian Bolt stopping an interview when he heard the USA Anthem (not even his Country) in order to pay respect to it. The issue of respect is not something that should be debatable. JMO

I'm okay with anyone saying what they want in protest. Youre the one letting it bother you. Bam could come out with a flying spaghetti monster costume and dance during the national anthem, and I'd still start him. Best players play, regardless of how much they hurt your feelings.
Rights for captain freedom and his spaghetti outfits , so long as nobody protests them back .

Im active duty. 12 years and counting. Im not bothered by it. If anyone tries to make this about military they are making an attempt at distracting ppl from the issue at hand. Which i agree is a problem. The institutional and systematic oppression of non whites in america.

People should be able to think for themselves and i applaud them for doing so and not giving into this "false patriotism" narrative that people should buy into things because they are told to
A vet myself. I'm just curious where there is oppression of non whites in America? Where is this going on at? Who is doing it? In what forms are they being oppressed?

Our players are not pro players and they honestly don't have the right to represent the university if they are going to engage in this garbage.

Not really sure what the professional - amateur distinction provides for increasing or decreasing an individual's right to freely express. In fact, I would expect that as a private employer, a professional franchise would be more empowered to establish expectations for conduct / public presentation. Same for if a college player at a private university were to decide to withdraw from a traditional form of respect for the flag/anthem vs. a player for a public (tax payer funded) university. That private institution would certainly be more empowered, if they so chose, to say "look pal, this is OUR place, and you can't do that here." Folks may not like it, but that's just reality. Specifically, the determination of whether a behavior (in this case form of expression) may result in a form of discipline may be based not so much on the behavior itself, but the setting.

Be pretty funny if every black player did it. Personally i would find it hilarious. How then could we carry on our gladiator in the coliseum type cheering while mostly black teams try to rip each others heads off..

If all black players did it then white america would be forced to listen for once.
Listen to what? More lies about white privilege and systematic oppression?

"Systematic oppression" - I'm using vague language because the basic math doesn't seem to indicated anything. I'm going to use this term as a way around the idea of actual minority Privelidge. Subprime mortgages for minorities who couldn't afford them, AA being awarded more points on the SAT's for simply being black, affirmative action, different policing stipulations on minority communities.

I will use "systematic minority oppression" as a way around all of those facts, because in reality, I want a battle to fight and don't have one.

Your thought process is in the minority just like the players protesting and the people who support this line of bs.

What would really be funny is if all whites quit buying season tickets, going to or watching the games, supporting athletics and college educations that benefit these same blacks you speak of........... no that would be raciest and oppressive which is basically what they are protesting.

You fix a lot of things but you can't fix stupid.

Or if Colin Kapernicks white parents that took him in never did that. Or if his favorite teacher, white, never gave a damn. Or if the college he attended didn't accept him because he had lower SAT scores. Or if the white owners never offered him that ridiculous contract. Or if the police officers refused to protect him from psychos and terror attacks at NFL stadiums. Or yes, if white fans completely boycotted the NFL making his salary impossible.

So much oppression, so little time.

Again, nothing but your mental emotion because there's nothing else. The data completely refutes your position.

Also, and a little education goes a long way, discrediting people's position by saying "you're white you don't know" is called a logical fallacy. Get some stats, stop using vague language that helps no one and doesn't point to Anything, and come back to me. Leave the non provable arguments at the door.

For the record I'm against all forms of racism, from all types. And yes minorities can be racist. What you're doing is easy. It's low lying fruit. Screaming vague terms isn't helping anyone, it's just your way around not really knowing what you're talking about.

Educate yourself.

Save yourself the embarrassment and just stop. We should all stop actually. No place for this.

Does it bother you that the institutional and systematic oppression of non whites you reference mainly comes from the so called leaders who claim to have their best interest at heart? Serious question.

I feel like most people get up every day, go to work if they have a job, and don't set out to see if they can "oppress" their fellow man. Chicago, Detroit and all the other democratic dominated municipalities have the biggest oppression problem in the country. So why is that?

What is white america supposed to listen for? If a cop tells you to do something I suggest you listen to them and you'll live longer.

My brother and I were in our 20's and leaving a high school football game. The stadium is in a bad area. We are walking to the car along with other families (white and black). Behind us were about 6 black youths who were thugs and looking for trouble. One of them said let's dust the f----kers and run. We are pretty big guys so I'm thinking surely they aren't talking about us. Well, they cold cocked my brother in the back of the head and tried to do it to me then ran off. Guess what, I didn't hate the neighborhood or black people as a group. I hated the thugs. But hey, if you feel oppressed, start voting Republican cause the crap the dems are feeding you is keeping you oppressed forever. It's not a race thing......it's a keep you feeling hopeless and vote for me to fix it thing. One day you might realize that. I'm sorry these topics come up this day and time cause there's enough to deal with in life without hating someone due to color. The people I "don't like" are because of their actions.

"Whitesplaining"? That's a racist term, and I don't like racists. Blocked.

Seriously, I can't believe that you actually said that. What's next, are you going to say "check your privilege"?

Im not trying to blacksplain anything. Im a white guy from kentucky and have traveled around the world thanks the my military service. And im not blind. I can easily see the historical advantages build into this country to help whites and keep non whites down.
Im not splaining anything. Im certainly not racist. Im just aware that things are different in the world than what fox news or msnbc or cnn tells me they are....

Lol. This is a common reply by some whites. How can an anti white guy marry a white woman and have white kids. He is speaking the truth and some whites cannot handle it.

Ahhh yes....when you look uninformed and have no info to prove your point....label everyone a racist. Congrats. You have learned to play the victim very well.
You should regret being duped into believing that America is an oppressive country when there are many countries that are. Look at NK, Iran, China, etc. Yet you think this country that allows anyone to achieve anything they want if they want it bad enough, is somehow oppressive.
A young black kid who was born and lived in real oppressive times is now the leader of that same country. Very oppressive indeed. I am no fan of Obama but I am glad that I live in a country where there are no limitations on what one can do or aspire to be. I am glad that this country has changed from the awful years of slavery and segregation to a country now where there are folks of all races in all sorts of positions of leadership and authority and it is not an issue because of their race.
