and they had 13 available (now 12) for Thursday night. They had zero available last night so someone just cancelled a whole block of rooms.

For Thursday? Ouch, I'm assuming they asked for a deposit from that dude or something. Surprised they'd open themselves up like that.

Thanks DS. I just got one of 'em. Had one in Tupelo but no need to drive an extra 100 miles or so.

Don't know what rate everybody else is getting but mine is $117 + tax (AAA rate).

Isn't it right across the highway from the Hilton Gardens?

I've only stayed at a La Quinta once and that was in New Orleans (actually in one of the southern burbs, maybe Gretna?) and it was a total dump. Kinda like a beat up Holiday Inn motel. Never will forget ... around 2 a.m. somebody started banging on the door and a woman was demanding to be let in. She was either a hooker or in trouble ... not sure because we didn't open the door.

And when we checked in, the toilet was stopped up. I went to the office to report it and he handed me a plunger. I told him to switch me to another room.
