If Auburn doesn't make Cadillac Williams Head coach it will be a crime.

No way. They are looking to make a splash hire. Money is no object. Cadillac may , in fact, be a fine coach, but no way they are rolling the dice on the internal hire. Ole Miss tried that with Matt Luke. He was a graduate of the school, was on staff as an assistant, was promoted to interim head coach after the head coach was forced to resign. Had support of the players, got the team fired up and inspired. They made him head coach because of that and he flopped.

Don't think you're taking into consideration the fan base would revolt. Williams will be AU's next HC. Book it.
The fan base doesn't want Williams. If he beats Bama then perhaps that may sway the boosters otherwise forget about it.
