you would also be against any kind of a playoff that would've allowed a non-conference champion to play in it, such as Alabama?

I agree that a team playingits way through a playoff system is the only way to go.

Can you honestly say there's another team in the country that even might be better than Bama? You don't earn your way into a national title game by losing to a 6-7 team. Is it a raw deal for LSU? Yes. But that's life. The 2 best teams in the country played for the national title last night and that's the way it should be until we get some sort of a playoff.

BTW, I told you Bama had the better team and would win the rematch. Miles did a hell of a job getting a split against a better team.

Hell there were some years where you had two out of one conference win a National Championship but it was all Readers Digest type of National Championship.

If you ever read up on the history of even the AP and UPI polls, it's really a joke for anyone to claim a national championship from any era. There were so many flaws in the voting for those two "legitimate" polls, much less the numerous other ranking systems that are used to outline who the previous champions were.

Our need to be able to list a No. 1 is the only reason it's even discussed.

I will admit that the BCS is a slightly better system and the number of games on TV makes voting a little more accurate, but I only put slightly more legitimacy in today's national champions over the historic ones.

They're all mythical in my opinion until they get it to at least 8 teams playing it out on the field. You'll always have an argument about that bubble team in the rankings, but it's better to have that bubble team be fighting for the 8th spot than fighting for the 2nd spot, or historically, the first spot.

Nebraska played for the BCS Championship against Miami in the 2001-2002 season with out playing in their Conference Championship. Colorado beat Texas and Nebraska got into the BCS Championship as a result.
