If being a State fan for almost 40 years has taught me anything,

How about a conference opening loss in men’s basketball for dessert tomorrow, too?

I wasn't going to say it...... but yep. I fully expect a loss tonight. And tomorrow .... and baseball to go 14-16 in conference. Especially now that the State fans are all... "when's baseball season."

Meh. It’s a meaningless bowl game. I’ll watch & I sure hope we win. But let’s not act like this is as important as a regular season game.
Technically it means nothing. But it could be more corroborating evidence as far as Lenny's trajectory.

If Lenny loses this one he should be fired on the spot.
He won't be. And with about half a team, I'm not sure you should make that decision based on a meaningless bowl game.

Now the "should he be fired" portion of that is still a legit question. It just won't be answered until the end of next season.

Naw. Classic MSU would be to win and get our hopes up just to **** on our head next year like the Tennessee, Florida, and Texas games this year.

I think baseball will be fine. And that’s part of the problem. Keenum will tell himself everything is okay with State athletics as long as State hosts a Regional. Meanwhile, the most important sports will wallow in irrelevancy without significant systematic changes.

Hey anti-baseball dubmasses, I've gone on rants about this before, but once again - our athletic department is not a zero sum game. Just because we put a couple mil extra into baseball (the sport in which we do already have the resources and coach in place to win in) does NOT mean we are any worse off in football. Those of you saying "every dollar spent on baseball is wasted" don't know wtf you're talking about.

1. It's not money holding us back in football, it's good decisions. We have enough money to get the right coaches, players, and everything we need. We just need to make better decisions and take advantage of opportunities when they are presented.

2. There is a segment of our donor base that love baseball and contribute primarily (or only) to baseball. Which is why the statement in quotes above makes no sense. If we told one of our major baseball donors to stop contributing because "we are a football school now" - what do you think he will do? He'll take his money and put it somewhere else. That won't help our football team in any way.

I don't really want to fight our own fans today, but jeezus some of you need to take a break from bashing the one sport we are actually good at right now.

My main point is - we can and need to strive to be good at everything. Not just football.

It doesn’t bother me if we lose a men’s basketball. I took a quick look at this year’s team and said ‘on to Spring sports.’ Now, the young females that play basketball could go far, but football, it seems a lost cause. In the Spring softball and baseball are bright spots. I hate that some fans will get jealous of their success.

Gene's Page-esque, but we didn't look all that bad this year other than what may have been coaching missteps. Florida, Texas, and Tennessee could very well have been wins and we'd be 8-4 instead of 5-7. Of course, there was the miracle finish of Arizona State, but we won't go there.

. I just wonder how short the leash has become.
Much shorter after Kiffin called out Selmon in front of the world on national live tv during the egg bowl. Still no reply but I think is hit home for Selmom that he’s involved.
and now I’m sure Selmom, like everybody else, watched what an amazing job Keith Carter did last night basically running the show himself.

This game is a wash. No outcome will determine his employment status.
Wake sucks and lost all their best players. We have to win. If not we’d have been better off not playing and just crootin the portal.

Maybe we should all openly and loudly cheer for them to win it. If anything would ensure that they don’t, it’s State fans hoping for it.

It was so easy to predict.

ETA: I’m glad I turned the game off in the 3rd quarter and missed the K1 injury and ensuing meltdown.
