My friend ... if you think for a moment that John Calipari will ever again be the head coach of a team that wins an NCAA Title - anywhere - then I have a piece of ocean-front property down the street from my house here in Scottsdale, AZ that I'd like to sell to you, really cheap !
I guess you think your buddy Bobby Hurley at Arizona State is better.
I am sure you have season tickets.

Could easily see it happening. If Cal can get the best players in the country to spend a year in Lexington, then convincing them to spend a year in Los Angeles would be child’s play. Not to mention he would blow open the only region he hasn’t recruited effectively at Kentucky. It was smart of UCLA to offer him when they did, but dumb of us to counter with a “lifetime contract.”
California ain't what it used to be. LA is a dumpster fire.

Nah, I’ll eat my crow.

there will be no train rolling again tho

I was (what seems today) taught along time ago in a galaxy far, far away to never speak in terms of absolute when it comes to things I have absolutely no say in. That way you avoid that bird that so many choke on. If you do gladly partake, you'd be the first on here, in a very small minority at the very least. More times than not it's "Frankie, it's like we never knew you"

If Cal left for UCLA and won a title, would that be worse than Pitino going to the Celtics first and then UofL?
Why, other coaches have won titles at UCLA just like other coaches have won titles at UK. But unless Cal changes his game plan he is not going to win another title, with the G league etc he will not get enough high level talent in that freshmen class to pull off a title run.

Cal has only won 1 title in 12 years here at UK with unlimited resources and the thought of him going to another school to win a title is just funny not going to happen!

When the train gets rolling again I can’t wait to watch you chicken neck drama queens sneaking in The back and sitting down like your post history doesn’t exist.
And when Cal limps off into the sunset, after not getting the train rolling, are you going to sneak back and sit down on your post history? I mean getting the train rolling, like multiple Final Fours and maybe a title or two. Not a 20-10 season and you proclaim that Cal is back. I'll be more than happy to say I was wrong. Will you?

This is the truth. Calipari won early at UK because of bringing in the best of the best. Those days are gone, never to return. Times have changed and Cal does not have the ability to change with them. His 2012 title will go down as his peak, never to be repeated.

He did not make the Final Four with John Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe and a very good Pat Patterson. Chances are slim he will ever have that kind of talent again.

Getting the best players, and then coaching them to win a National Championship, is two different things. We've had the best players for 12 years, according to the scouts who rate them, and it has provided us one NC. That year we had the best player I have seen in college, and another player who was a Senior, who was a very good player and a steadying influence on the team. A coach has to be able to analyze his opponent, and adjust his game accordingly, something I don't believe Cal can do.

Well he hasn’t been getting the best players in the country the last few years and that’s a fact. Which is why you see the results you see. He’s still getting a bunch of 5 starts but they’re 2nd tier and not the elite of the elite like he was getting the first several years.

He lacks significant skill at actual X’s and O’s Coaching which is why you’re seeing awful basketball especially in the beginning months of the season “just wait till March!”

So UCLA would also be getting a bunch of 10-60 rated freshman all on the same team with zero sure fire elites (Cade, Zion, Wall, AD, Simmons, RJ etc)

I think your second paragraph explains Cal's coaching very well.

A shooter, a better record and no knee and half of these posts wouldnt exist. I'm old enough to remember Tubby ball, waiting on 3star in state recruits to develope and up and coming head coaching hires drinking themselves half to death under the pressure that is UK basketball.

If Cal won the title at UCLA....it means UCLA made him get top notch assistants and they are luring john wall talent........ or he is an a hole and changed his style back to traditional basketball at UCLA but wont do it here.

The one and done can not win titles anymore .. not the way we or Duke does it. one and done is about to be 0-10 in making final fours since the rule changes after the 2015 season. the only way 1 and done can work is by 2 or 3 one and dones and the rest multi year guys staying until they are ready and using a traditional style. because one on one and iso ball does not work without elite nba talent so if we arent getting that, it makes our offense complete garbage.

thus in conclusion. Cal will never win another title no matter where he's at unless he changes and modernizes. But Cal is a narcissist ....... he wont change unless its his idea on his terms and right now he wants to die on the one and one positionless basketball hill.
He couldn’t even win a gold metal coaching Americas team .

And that's all you've got. Figured as much.
Dude, you’re only here to wallow in misery. Look at the requirements you listed to constitute the train rolling again. Get out with that unreasonable nonsense. You’re getting what you want right now. Enjoy it.

No, I'm here to talk about what's happening with the program, not stick my head up Cal's ***. You get out of here with your nonsense. If I'm wrong I'll admit it. You won't.

I remember when Cal actually suggested that maybe the reason he was meant to come to Ky was to catch UCLA in national championships...

So let me get this straight, the only way you see us getting the train rolling is with multiple final fours and 1-2 titles minimum? Because that’s what you said. Anything less than that and we suck I guess. One final four won’t do it, no no. We need multiple. Only then will you admit we are back on track. Like I said, nonsense.

You sound retarded. Nobody said that.

Peoples concern is that the next 5 Years will be even worse than the last 5 due to Cals below mediocre bench coaching, current model, no offense and his recruiting (no longer getting the elite of the elites that he needs to succeed) and constant roster turnover every year.

Question- can you tell me what Cals offense has been this year? What offensive schemes have you see this year? Which sets have you liked best? What type of offense did Cal run specifically the last few years?

Granted his is not the top X and O coach...but as you said HE is not getting the elite of the elite...then no matter who the coach is; it is tough to win with such a large turnover

The great coach K could not even make the FF with the best recruiting class ever!!! is he a bad XandO coach also?

Let us not forget the argument about championships, but also let us not forget that most here always said Coack K got a lot of easy paths in the NCAA tourney (can't argue both, right? And he did get a lot of easy paths).

Anyway, people who want Cal gone don't understand how many years our basketball program would be in the crapper. All they can focus on is how bad this year has gotten and that because of this year it must have always been a disaster, which it hasn't been. We won't get a boatload of 5* recruits when he is gone. We won't compete against the best of the best and snag players. People outside of Kentucky won't necessarily care about the name on the jersey anymore. University names aren't the reason people play bball anymore. That died with the 90s.

In addition, things aren't as terrible as some of you are making them feel. This year sucks, no doubt, but we have had teams that competed for the last decade. The guy who broke down Cal's years in chunks ignored the request to breakdown Cal's years individually, which would probably tell a different story.

Anyway, deaf ears. People hate Cal. It's a real shame some have to poo-poo on our coach every chance they get considering how good we have had it.

OH! And for those who think kids only come here to go to the NBA, no ****. You go to college to prepare for your lifetime career. Duh.
