lol Maybe Trump will throw a mean tweet at them. Like I said, this is all good attention for Milo, probably helping him sell more books and the free press he's getting is just priceless. He's probably surprised when he actually gets to speak somewhere. I'm sure that Milo appreciates your concern.

Moe, I apologize. I have often referred to you as a liberal. You aren't. You're an ideologue. Big difference.

I'm just a humble message board poster and if you'd drop the labels and stereotypes you'd be moving in the right direction.

Oh the outrage. How about the student protestors' right to free speech? I'm sure the campus and local police can handle the modest unrest associated with this event. So what if that guy's talk got cancelled. Your overreaction to this (and about everything) is typical.
The University said the violent protesters were out of town agitators and not students. And your use of "modest unrest" is laughable.....Where would you draw the line?

wonder what the liberals in Hollywood do if people started riots in front of movie theaters and impacted the attendance and thus their bottom line...I'm guessing they wouldn't be too happy like some seem to be about these recent events.

Got in an argument with one of my very very leftist friends when he defended the asshats that broke onto the construction site and hung the banner from the crane near the White House. I asked him how he could support an action that cost hundreds of workers a days pay, as well as put their safety at risk. His answer was "**** that construction site." So when I asked him how he would feel if I blocked the entrance to his job and prevent him from getting a days pay, how he would feel and I got crickets in return.

"modest unrest" is my characterization and I'm sure you have yours. Draw the line on what?

Modest unrest or modest dust-up vs. what happened last night. I would characterize it as rioting and something far more than a modest dust-up.

If a movie were that controversial they would love it as people would be streaming to the theaters to find out what all the commotion was about. Mel Gibson made a lot of money in that manner.
Yeah but people couldn't get in to see the movie because of the riots and violence outside...and thus no money would be made.

Yeah, light hearted fun:

A bystander who said he was attacked by protesters looks for cover after a protest at UC

Hell yes.......just a "modest dust-up". But there is some hope......Country now has big concerns about behavior at prayer breakfasts.

What about the content of his speech, how do you feel about that?

I watched the YouTube video of his WVU speech and was appalled and turned it off after a few minutes. I got all I needed to know about this guy in the first 5 minutes.
Content? The actual theme wasn't that bad and one that I'd like to hear more honest dialogue about. The delivery, content, presentation, and sideshow aspect of it was appalling.

Is Trump right to withhold federal grants until they begin to act according to the law of the land, our Constitution? Cal Berkeley gets a huge amount of federal money for research. It can be cut off in a New York second. Should Trump make an example of Cal Berkeley?

As we all know, Milo spoke at WVU. President Gee hates Milo but acknowledged his free speech rights. I am proud of our university for upholding principles far more important than Milo.

I communicated with Gee about this issue. He was very gracious. He explained his dislike for Milo but pledged to continue to reinforce our most fundamental rights as long as he is President. He is a man of honor.

BTW, I don't like Milo, think he is a provocateur, using these speeches to gin up money and sell his books.

tough call here. Somebody might have killed that peddler of hate on that campus......probably not a bad thing. isn't he buddies with Bannon?

But then you get into content of speech. That is not our first Amendment.

https://www.myheritage.org/news/supreme-court-protects-‘even-hurtful-speech’/

Once you start drawing a line about what offensive speech is free speech and what offensive speech is not free speech, we are in deep trouble.
We can’t pretend the pubic doesn’t have to be swayed. Think of the Civil War. Were the southern states right about the constitutionality of states’ rights? Yes. But they chose slavery as the issue on which to wage the states’ rights battle. Therefore they lost the states’ rights battle.

Public opinion has nothing to do with this, with all due respect. This is a very simple first amendment issue that the Supreme Court has ruled on many many many times. Trump is fully within his rights to withhold funds from that school if they don't protect the first amendment rights of speakers. I would bet the vast majority of Americans agree with that position. Too many men and women have died supporting that right and our other rights as well.

If you think public opinion doesn't have a bearing on what constitutional issues an administration chooses to pursue and which ones not to touch I have some oceanfront property in the Eastern Panhandle to sell you.

You know, if they're not rioting in Baltimore, you can actually see Ocean City, MD from up on the hilltops between Shenandoah Junction and Duffields, so I might be interested in your land.
