If Comey thought Trump was obstructing

I agree with you that Trump is not going to be impeached, and I really wish people would stop throwing that word around, but I don't agree with your statement, "the so called memo will be ripped to shreds by anyone with half a brain." A) We have no idea what the memo(s) says and B) Intelligent people can disagree.
It won't make a difference what the memo says unless it can be backed up. However it and the many other allegations do make a huge difference to the masses when they read the "wordsmiths" versions we see on an almost daily basis.

Comey's memos have been used in the past. And also, he DID get fired and Trump DID say on television that the Russia thing played a part.

Plus, Trump taped him, so there should be corroboration!

And if all else fails, Trump could ask Putin if he has a recording.

All speculative. Just sit back and enjoy the ride, it'll come out.
Comey cannot have it both ways, if he thought he was obstructed he is supposed to go to justice and report it. By not going, he is saying that there was no obstruction. Comey has really screwed himself with the email invest, and how he has handled things the last 10 months.

I think he should've taken it straight to the FBI.
By not doing it, he is in trouble, if he thinks he was obstructed. By not doing it, he is saying that there was no obstruction. You can't ahve it both ways, unlike what he tried to do with Hilliary's emial investigation. He indicted her in the court of public opinion and then let her go. He has brought a lot of the problems on himself.

Apparently he does as he's offering a transcript. Show us your 'tapes' Donald.

Moscow (CNN)Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered to provide a transcript of a controversial Oval Office meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, raising the stakes in an affair that has sent the White House into a tailspin.

Speaking at a press conference in Sochi, Russia, Putin dismissed allegations that Trump had shared top-secret security intelligence with Russian diplomats as "political schizophrenia."

"If the US administration finds it necessary, we are ready to provide the record of the conversation between Trump and Lavrov to the Senate and Congress," Putin said.

The intervention by Putin could turn up the pressure on the White House to provide its own transcript of the meeting. The Senate intelligence committee has already
demanded a briefing on what was said at the meeting from members of the Trump administration who were present.

He says he might have!! I think it's a ratings ploy, but we'll see!!!
I don't think he said that. I think he said something like Comey better hope there are no tapes of what was said. Big difference than saying "he might have" Perfect example of the term I have recently used as to what the media is doing to Trump info....Wordsmithing. I don't like it when people try to force their narrative on me....I figured that out when I used to watch Dan Rather when he would give his ananlysis of any Republicans convention speech or State of the Union address.

didnt he have the obligation to go to the DOJ? Since he didn't do that (to our knowledge) then he must not have felt that Trump's actions/words rose to that level.

Legally required to do so and subject to prosecution if he does not alert DOJ. Clearly, he must not have thought Trump attempted to coerce him to drop the investigation.

Only if Trump gets bored and decides to call it quits. With his attention span, it's possible. No one is removing him from office though.

Like I said, this is nothing more than a pissing match between parties that will end up going nowhere, except distracting from real issues.

Winner = Russia and China

You think he just, in general, hoped there were no tapes of their meetings with his tweet? Agree to disagree my friend. You can call that wordsmithing, I call it common sense. Cheers

Coming from Trump yes. I do think it may have been an attempt by Trump to intimidate. My reference to wordsmithing is a description of what the media is doing when dealing with Trump info.

Well you are limited by characters with Twitter so he probably left out some words. :sunglasses:

None of us know (yet) what is in the Comey Memo, or if even if the Comey Memo exists. Comey has not made any comment or produced anything, yet. Comey has not claimed to have such a Memo. Both sides are speculating. If there is such a Memo, why did he not report it immediately to the DOJ? First of all, we don't know if he did or not. Second, who is the Attorney General? A close friend of Trump, the person allegedly discussed in the possible Memo. Third, if the Memo exists, it is part of an investigation that is ongoing. This is not a crime (if it occurred) where there is an imminent threat to someone's life or physical safety, where the suspect needs to be apprehended immediately to prevent a murder or injury. This is what the FBI does. It investigates and builds a case with piece after piece of evidence. They don't take the first scintilla of evidence, run to the DOJ, and stop their work. They continue to build a case, or if there is not sufficient evidence, drop it.

As to Putin's offer re the transcript of the private Oval Office meeting, are we at the point where we are willing to take the word of Russia on such a matter? Has Russia achieved such favored and trusted status with America that we look to Russia as the bringer of truth? Trump's tapes are what need to be produced to compare to the Comey Memo.

He is now called a "witness." And yes he will testify.

He was in the middle of conducting an investigation for phuck's sake. Do you think he is going to go to the DOJ and report something in the middle of an investigation?
Legally he is required to do just that. This is why it is funny when you tell someone they know nothing about the justice system because you are phucking clueless.

I have friends who can testify to the fact that the FBI takes very good notes! lol.
And yet still no evidence of collusion despite the good notes. Maybe the FBI just takes better notes when interveiwing you friends? #blm #stoptheprofiling

In all honesty, should/do investigators run and blab about every detail during an investigation or wait until the end and do it all at once? IDK if Comey should have ran and told on POTUS right away or not. IDK if Comey's memo(s) are bad for POTUS or not.

Coop you should read Pax's post on this with Andrew McCartney. It's long but it explains why you really can't do that in a criminal investigation, and why you shouldn't do that in a Foreign intelligence investigation.

It's a well explained piece that separates the two types of investigations and how evidence gathered under each is treated differently and why. Highly recommended.

I'm not sure what to think until Brian Williams, and or Dan Rather confirm it from their Anchor Desk.

I'm waiting to watch Colbert tonight. He will lay out it all so all of us average citizens can understand what is going on.

They should not blab it to everyone but they absolutely report it all along the way so any other leads or parallel investigations have access to the best information.
