Or even if he were a head coach somewhere, how would you expect his level of proficiency in the social media world that we're seeing from Mullen and other SEC coaches?

Our football program and whole athletic dept. has moved from the 1980s into the 2010s in about 3 years.

..hire a top psychologist to do an in-depth study of sixpackspeak.com's incurable obsession with Sly Croom.

I would say let it go, but it's literally impossible for this board to let Sly Croom go.

Mullen swooped in & cleaned up the Croom mess in record time, but for some reason a huge segment of the Miss. State fanbase is still traumatized by Sly Croom. And the guy even lead MSU to a bowl, which is an accomplishment a whole crapload of other MSU football coaches never sniffed.

Put it this way: If sixpackspeak.com was as deeply obssessed with curing world hunger as it is Sly Croom, the children of Rwanda would be eating 4 course meals within a week.

..I ask why this messageboard can not let go of its diseased obssession with Croom, & you twist it into somebody taking up for Croom.

I will take up for Croom as far as Croom won a bowl game as coach, which a series of worthless duds like Rocky Felker & Charlie Shira never did. Other than that, who in the world gives a flying **** about Sly Croom except a handful of obsessive nutjobs on sixpackspeak.com who are determined to live in the past.

Indeed, you would be the first headcase I would suggest the psychologist interview.

.. to pay a psychologist to successfully diagnose sixpackspeak.com's Croom Derangement Syndrome, I would also have enough money to send to Rwanda.

See how that works?

because I find it funny that you are still defending the man as being a good coach. Everyone (which wasn't many) that was basically calling the guy the worst coach in history around year two was told by the all knowing ronnyatmosphere that they were idiots and didn't know anything. Anytime one of us posted something stating how inept he was as a coach, you would chime in how said poster was a moron and didn't know anything.Any chance we can still get in a dig at you for looking like a moron, which happens quite often, is usually taken. The fact that ANYONE can think the guy was anything but agiant failure as a head coach is mind blowing. I'm sure you'll come up with a great retort involving something witty.

got to play coach when 6 winsover D-1A opponents would get you a bowl invitation and how many of them got to play against a CUSA team once they got there?

Croom gets credit for hiring Ellis Johnson, giving agood burst of PR to the university, giving pretty decent speeches in the off-season, and minimizing the probation penalty. If you can think of anything else he did for the university or the players (who he constantly threw under the bus), I'll be happy to give him credit for that too.

Edited for brain fart

is because it was harder to go to a bowl game back then. They each had a 6-5 season that likely would have become a 7-5 season with an added FCS opponent, and even if it didn't, 6-6 SEC teams are pretty much guaranteed a bowl bid now.<div>
</div><div>In the age of 36 bowls, 12 game schedules, and getting to count one win per year over FCS schools, one bowl game in five years is hardly an accomplish worth bragging about.</div>
