If EJ Leaves

Will depend on his projection, I'd suppose. A few folks have said round 5-6 which, if that becomes official, I'd say we'd have a shot to keep him with a competitive NIL deal.

Hopefully 1890 can get some boosters to give him an offer he can't refuse. Easily our best player this year.

Does he go pro or does he possibly leave for another team in the portal?
He doesn't have NFL speed and the jump cuts work in the big 10, but won't work in the NFL. He is also not a pile mover as evidenced by our inability to get yards in short yardage situations. The fact that HH had to be used unsuccessfully so many times just shows he isn't an every down back. He is a perfect college back and should enter the portal to get paid more. I suppose he could put on more weight or speed with another year in college as well.

His pass blocking also leaves a lot to be desired and that’s not optional in the NFL.

He has the second most carries in the ncaa this season. Put respect on his name.

I said he is a perfect college back. And he has stuck with the huskers. But he is not an nfl running back. Just yesterday he had a clear path to the end zone, was 10 yards ahead of an Iowa safety and was caught from the behind. This has happened over and over this season. 5 years ago, you would have told him to go be a free agent and practice squad guy, make 250k, and maybe get a chance on special teams or as a 3rd down back. Now he should stay and get paid by NU.

Sadly I have to agree. I don’t think he’ll have half the career Ameer did in the NFL. He’s just tough as hell and the only consistent weapon on offense we’ve had in years.

I been saying emmit could do 4 things by coming back next year to help his nfl career:
1. work on 4th gear/sprinting
2. work on blocking
3. gain 20 pounds of muscle
4. win the heismen ( which would need us having 9 wins min too)

then he would see a much bigger nfl pay day...
risk of injury is probably at least 2 times as much in the NFL then the Big

Unfortunately with our schedule without any portal help, he doesn't stand a snowballs chance in h*ll of winning the Heisman

He's an intriguing prospect. Lack of top end speed majorly hurts him, but I bet he's very desirable as a mid-round pick with his versatility. Being reliable counts for something. How many picks get wasted on guys with injury histories who barely ever see the field?

I'm assuming his NIL value is way over a million. Would be hard to turn that down vs. say a mid 4th round pick where he'll get 1 million a year.

The NFL draft values athletic unicorns above all else. To be drafted high, you need elite athleticism for your height/weight/position. EJ clearly doesn’t have the top end speed you would like to see from your RB. And he’s not a big bruiser type where maybe that can be less important. I could see EJ being an UDFA unless he pleasantly surprises on his 40 time. I think he’s going to run something like a 4.68, which isn’t going to help him.

One thing to consider as well is getting the clock started on NFL pension. This is not just for EJ, but others as well. I forget how many years are needed to qualify, but it should also be a consideration for all thinking of NIL vs draft.

Granted, 1m invested as a College player at 21 is probably as good as getting that pension clock started, if that 1m is invested for use after age 50.

10. Its why Will Compton keeps jokingly pitching the Year 10 Will Compton story.

He will do well as a pro. IMHO the first few years he will be a backup unless injuries require that he play full time. While he does not have top end speed, his catching ability, his ability to shed tackles, and his quick burst will make him a nice piece on a team that needs a good 3rd down back or a team that wants quality depth. His profile coming out of college is very similar to Ameer. Neither has top end speed but both catch well and both are hard to bring down.

Similar to Kaleb Johnson last year, he needs to go get paid. Late 2nd, early 3rd rd. if I had to guess.
Speaking of which as Steelers fan I've never been more disappointed in a RB pick who I actually had high hopes for. Looks so indecisive, no ability to avoid or shake anyone. He seemingly just runs right into people.

I had him at a mid to high 4.5 guy. If his clock says anything higher than 4.59 his best bet is to stay in college. He would definitely make more from NIL than an NFL contract would guarantee him.

Maybe but if you are a 5th or 6th round guy u aren't even guaranteed to make the team. To think that far ahead on something that's probably not likely to happen would be difficult. I'd take the college money. Someone is gonna give him a million plus next year. That won't happen in the NFL imo.

The defenders gained a lot of ground in the last 25 yards of that almost TD. Looked 4.6 something to me. Unless those were low 4.4 guys chasing him.

It's possible. I wouldn't be surprised either way. I knew he wasn't a burner but 4.6 for a back his size is NFL slow. Kaleb Johnson went 4.57 last year at 225-230 pounds and was knocked for being slow.

EJ is more quick than fast. He can be a great college back but maybe not at the NFL level. There’s nothing wrong with that.

just admit you have issues and move on
Sure thing, twig.

I have issues with mental midgets going unchecked. You're a stain on this fanbase, and part of the reason we're the B1G laughing stock.

Apologies it makes you emotionally think about my dick, and for the second time, no you can't suck it.
