I don't think Croom left us much better off than when he came. I hate to say it, but the media jsut doesn't want to be racist, so they say this type of stuff. It is ludicrous.

But, if the media says taht Croom did the heavy lifting, built a foundation...then does that mean that the next Coach can not says the place is in shambles...which is what every new coach is gong to want to say to buy as much time as possible.

I mean the media has been telling us for years that things were SOOO bad and taht Croom was turning it around and has it on solid foundation now, so the yshould not now be able to say we should give the next guy time. The next guy should be able to win right away, given taht Croom has done the heavly lifting.....right?

in Dec of 2004 when Croom left Green Bay (all be it, for just a few minutes) to stand in front of a podium and be named new MSU coach. Talent wise, we may be worse off if that's even imaginable. How many Croom recruits are NFL bound in 5 signing classes? Compare that with Sherrill's last class having 4 guys starting on Sundays right now. Croom brainwashed the media and the majority of our fans that he inherited a prison bootcamp. Not to say things were fine and rosy but the fat assed clown milked that excuse even all the way up to just last week.

The only things that are better are 1) MSU is not on probation and 2) there is a decent class that is currently listed as still committed. He is not leaving us with that much better talent and likes one game record wise of being practically as bad as 2003. That is pitiful after 5 years.

No QB, no wide receivers, thin at TE, porous offensive line, graduating 2/3 of the defensive starters. Ya think he left the cupboard a little bare? Let's just hope that our next coach sets his recruiting sights a little higher than 1 star recruits between Mobile and Birmingham that are being coveted by Alabama A&M and Alabama State.

The only time a coach leaves you "better off" is when that coach leaves a school to take a bigger, better position (or at least one that is better perceived). If a new coach wins with the old coach's talent, it is usually because the new coach is just a heck of a lot better (Sherrill with Felker's, Meyer's with Zook's, Nutt with O's, etc.).

If the new coach struggles early on with the old coaches players, it's usually because they always sucked from conception.

Our new coach is going to struggle mightily with our OL, interior DL, and WRs. The OL is beyond atrocious, the WRs are lacking in many areas, especially being physically present, and our interior DL is big but not very strong and forceful.. Now, with Tyler Lee, Wesley Carroll, and Tyler Russell (screw the Real Deal), I think any coach would have some decent QBs--with one having minor-greatness potential there--to work with.

Croom's recruiting has sucked almost every year. Last year's class blowed, and he redshrited most of them. That's why the bottom line has to be the type of offense and "excitement factor" the new coach will bring; otherwise, get ready for at least one or two years of craptacular football . . . Mississippi State Style!

if I was the new coach is get two JUCO WR's and 4 JUCO o-linemen.

And I would take some scholarships away from the 24 DE's we signed last year.
