If I am Rick Stansbury

this would be my final year. I would just resign. I like Rick, but if you can't see the writing on the wall, then you're uhh... blind.

Reason being because:

1. I still have a decent lineup to go out on a positive note. Including one Renardo Sidney. Let's say that Bost returns- that's a pretty good PG. I have Phil Turner, Kodi, and sigh Riley Benock that are all experienced seniors. Not a dream team, mind you, but one that could still get to the Big Dance. That would be a nice way to go out.

2. That said, ALL of those guys are likely to leave, including Bost. Then who replaces them? If I was Rick Stansbury, and I was able to get the guys from Mississippi that are worth a darn- Adams, O'Bryant, Deville Smith, Hood, and Ammons - and I will admit that I am no basketball guru, but I have seen film on these players, and I'm going with the eye test here- I would probably stay. But Adams has already signed with Duke, and it's pretty obvious that O'Bryant is going to probably go to UK. And then the others are not exactly in the bag by any means either. And now we have guys like Osby and Ravern Johnson jumping ship. So, then we're looking at a lineup of God knows what- Twany, Bryant, Shaun Smith who may or may not be healthy, Wendell Lewis, and then "gulp" John Riek? That's an awe inspiring group right there.

3. I'm still able to land a decent job. No matter what you think about Rick, Clemson wanted him. Now, if Stansbury stays here longer and continues the fine MSU tradition of destroying what he built- and let's face it, MSU is the world's worst at not knowing when to fire someone, except for Croom (I wonder what was different there?)- no one is going to want to hire him except for maybe some small schools such as Samford or other people like that. He has been here for over 10 years, which is forever in the coaching world. He has won Championships and has had a nice run while he is here. The best move for Rick long-term is to leave, get more money and get in a decent situation rather than end up at Austin Peay.

Of course, what will happen is Stansbury will stick around, the program will decline, the only people in the stands will be the guy with the wig, Candyman Ron, Meo, and the fat chick until we have yet another steaming pile of dung.

Adams hasn't signed with anyone....lets see how his grades turn out before we put him down as a lock for Duke.

Coach K has a TON of ties to the NBA. It seems like all of their guys that don't do squat end up in coaching or on ESPN.

If you're a basketball player, it's worth it to go there because of Coach K.

The only way I see Adams NOT going there is if Duke finds someone else better, which is probably possible, but not exactly something that I would get my hopes up for either.

Also, it is well known that Duke's entrance standards suddenly decrease if you can shoot the rock.

Or I would thank the stars that a new AD was coming in. I would attempt to change my reputation as a loose disciplinarian who recruits well and coaches poorly. I would ask and require everyone from the walk-on to the Lamonts to do the same things and issue the same discipline for everyone regardless of what I promised them during their recruitment. I would reward players for doing what I ask on and off the court. I would not cower down to prima donnas who do what ever the hell they feel like on the court and pop off at the mouth to the media, other players, and in the community.

Do these things, you are respected by everyone instead of nobody. What the hell you got to lose? You ain't going to the NCAAs anyway.
