If I'm UT, I'm hiring June Jones....

I'm surprised his name isn't being mentioned. The year before he took over Hawaii, they went 0-11. His first year as coach they went 9-4, biggest turnaround in NCAA history. I mean he took Hawaii to the freakin Sugar Bowl.

Then he leads SMU to their first bowl win since the death penalty and they are actually getting 3 and 4 star recruits for the first time without paying them.

Think about the excitement he would bring to Neyland Stadium and think about the skill players he would recruit on offense. They would no doubt have one of the best QB's and WR groups in the country.

Just hire a great DC and away you go. Especially with the timing of everything and the diminished pool of options.

Are you mad that:
A) you sell copiers for a living
B) you cry yourself to sleep at night about Cam Newton or
C) that the Cotton District Yeti is now a member of your family

Are you sure you want to keep going down this road?

Edit: Actually, I'm wrong. He didn't just get blown out by UGA in the Sugar Bowl, he also lost to a Mike Shula coached Alabama team. Twice.

It proved UGA had much better players than Hawaii. Was that bowl game a surprise to you?

Did you see what SMU did to Nevada in the bowl game? That was a matchup of 2 teams with comparable talent.

As far as age, he is only 1 year older than Cutcliff.

I would much rather have June Jones than Cutcliff, Muschamp, Fulmer or most any names being mentioned.

but I don't think it would be a great fit for both because Jones kind of speciallizes in building programs that are down. And when I say down, I'm not talking about losing the Peach Bowl and your coach to USC. I'm talking 0-12, no hope in sight. Tennessee would have a LOT more pressure than SMU or Hawaii, and I'm not sure that Jones wants to fool with that.

I also think that UT wants someone that will run a pro-style offense like Fulmer, Cutcliffe, Kiffen did while they were at UT. Now, that said they may very well go out and hire some spread guru, or get Muschamp and he may install an offense like Texas, and I just have that impression based on what they've been running the past decade or so. And while I am aware that Jones did run his offense in the NFL, it's not a traditional pro-style offense. That's one reason why I don't think they will go after Mullen- because he is a spread guy.
