As someone else pointed out, Payne didn't even coach the Blue or the White team in their preseason scrimmage.

And why would Payne be better?
I don't make all my opinions on paper. Have you watched Florida State Play. They are out of control and just as confused and inefficient as our offense. Street Ball. I thought we wanted to get away from that. So yeah, if we fired a undisciplined coach that was a good recruiter to get another undisciplined coachthat was good at recruiting, all while losing two awesome recruits, I'd be pretty damn pissed.

... who would you prefer and why?

No question about that. He knows something about x's and o's. Add a couple of recruiters to the staff, and we could be in good shape. All Payne has going for him ishis association with UK which is nothing but a one and done of super talented AAU hoopsters under Calipari. I have no idea if Payne actually plays a part in whatever "coaching" may occur at UK. I also have no reason to believe he would be a better recruiter at State than R.S. was. Talent was not a big problem for us under the previous regime. The problem was character or lack thereof and very little player development.
