To answer the question, we'd get whoever was "hot" from a mid major during tourney time, for better or for worse. So we'd end up w/ a disaster like Stan Heath or John Pelphrey, or get lucky and get a Bruce Pearl
But what Coach says is ridiculous, losing OOC games in basketball compared to football is a completely different deal. With 15 or so OOC games, even the top notch teams will drop a game to someone they're not supposed to from time to time. As long as we lose 3-4 or less, which will be the case, all that will matter is what we do in conference play. Where we finish in the SEC and our league record as well as how we do against the top tier OOC teams will determine our RPI and tourney seed. The SEC also hasn't been a "5th rate" conference during the entirety of Stans tenure, just the last two years. In the last 15 years, the ACC leads the nation w/ 13 final 4 participants, while the SEC in second w/ 12 (hardly "5th" rate) Since 96, 11 of the 12 SEC teams have made the Sweet 16, no other conference comes close to that kind of depth. Coach basically just throws **** against the wall to see what will stick and to see who will just take his word for things instead of having a mind of their own.
"The SEC... Where only a 2 year old wouldn't remember the SEC being a good basketball conference"
