If the SEC goes to a 9 game schedule by 2014, do we drop the USM series?

The 9 game schedule was predicted by many of the writers at media days, and I personally don't get why we are playing USM in the first place. I think this is a no brainier, if the conference goes to 9 games, they got to go. Also, if the conference goes to 9 games, what do you think about one of the games being a nuetral site game? Would make sure all teams have the same number of home and away games.

We won't be dropping them at this point. Would be an absolute PR disaster here in MS if we did...

Plus, it seems our nonconference schedule is set up to allow for 9 conference games in the future. We don't have the 4th nonconference slot filled past this upcoming season...

Our non-conference schedule is full through at least 2016. I think you can add at Tulane for 2017 too.

I know what the writers are saying, but I don't think the SEC is going to a 9-game schedule any time soon, if ever. </p>

Playing USM is risky. I'm ready for our two game series to come and go. We need to focus on bowl eligibility NOT style points.

I could really care less which one looks like a better win. Neither of them are from BCS conferences so they would likely get not look like a better win nationally as much as you think. In college football, at the end of the season they ask you how many you won, not who you beat. Just look at all the predictions right now, everyone is predicting how many we will win. If the SEC goes to 9 conference games, I think we cut the series with USM and play 3 cup cakes. Who cares about the perception? We hold all the cards, and it doesn't matter one iota.

A large number of you are too young to remember the carnage associated with the USM series. We had some good teams and they beat us in some<div>big games that kept us from having some outstanding years. The injuries were numerous on both sides as well. I harbor no ill will toward USM,</div><div>I just don't see the benefit in playing them.</div>

If we're going to 9 games you almost have to have a neutral site game for each team.

MSU/Kentucky: Nashville
Ole Miss/Vandy: Memphis or Birmingham
UT/South Carolina: Atlanta
Alabama/Arkansas: New Orleans or Nashville
Missouri/Florida: Pick anywhere between those two extremes
LSU/TAM: Dallas
Auburn/Georgia: Birmingham? Atlanta?

they'd keep the UGA-UF game in Jacksonville. But they'll never do that, even if they do go to a 9-game schedule. That's just stupid to take games away from campuses. They'd just alternate 4 and 5 home game seasons. Except for UGA-UF, who would both get 4 home games every season.

The Pac-12 and Big 12 have 9-game schedules and just alternate 4/5 and 5/4 seasons. The Big East does 3/4 and 4/3 with 8 teams. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better than putting a game in a neutral site that no one will go to.

We had a 10 year deal, mostly in Jackson then reverted to campus the last two years. We legitimatised them and helped them recruit. So did Ole Mess.
The smartest thing is to keep them off the schedule unless they always agree to come the Ville.
