If this were an 8 team playoff, who would be in?

1. Clemson 2. Bama 3. MSU 4. OU

5. OSU 6. Stanford 7. ND 8. Iowa.

I rank OSU 5th in part to avoid a MSU/OSU rematch in the first round. No SEC team other than Bama gets in, all the Big XII teams other than OU have too many flaws, No ACC team deserves in other than Clemson, although in reality if we had 8 I bet they'd put in the Criminoles over Iowa but Iowa impressed me last night. No other Pac 12 teams considered. I'd say it comes down to Iowa vs. FSU for the last spot. 12-1 vs. 10-2? Seems easy to me.

Clemson, Houston
Alabama, Iowa
Michigan state, Notre dame
Oklahoma, Stanford

I sort of ran through that. Houston and Ohio state might flip places. But what I really notice, is I wouldn't want to watch those games or them to even happen. Last night you had two games with more anticipation. Undefeated Iowa against Michigan state. Now they they would be going to play again in games that seem anti climactic.

Basketball is a sport where teams could win at any time, and it's fairly deep. Football feels like only two or the teams deserve a championship and I don't want to open it up for someone else to slide in at the end.

The only way Houston gets in is if they make a rule saying a non-power 5 team has to get in with an 8 team playoff. I would hate that if they do that. I just can't see OSU being left out if it is 8 teams. You are clearly projecting your top 8, while I went with more of what the committee would do. No way OSU gets left out IMO.

I agree with you, the games are blah. I might be up for 8, but this year it would be a boring field IMO. Maybe its my SEC bias, but just one SEC team equals boring field.

I think Ohio state and notre dame would get in. Clemson, bama, iowa, Michigan state, Stanford, and Oklahoma. The best plain and simple.
