I meant Whittingham. It was late and I'd been drinking - sorry for the typo.

It's like people think we somehow failed to notice the punts from the 30, the insane use of timeouts, having the uncanny knack of going for it on 4th down when we shouldn't and not going for it when we should, and my personal favorite- the standing on the sidelines with his mouth wide open and the "Aw geez, what do I do now?" look while looking up at the scoreboard while my face is firmly planted in my hands while an elderly woman is asking me why we called a certain play.

Other than that, I didn't notice anything bad about the coaching.

The ONLY way I would be shocked at how bad of a coaching job Croom did would be if Mullen came in and took us to a BCS bowl with the cast of characters we have now. So, I'm talking like 10-2 type regular season with a SEC Chapionship Game appearance. We all know that ain't gonna happen next year, and if by some chance it did, this might be Mullen's first and last year at MSU.

was the change at Ole Miss. Players admitted that things had gotten real bad in Oxfart before Nutt showed up.

Mullen said, (and I believe it)...the best players don't always win...the players that play best usually win the game.
MSU has definitely not had players that played best. The offense has been a figment of the coaches immagination.
He was a good guy that tried to bring the NFL to the SEC and it came out SIC.

Mullen will do better...and give the guy a break! Dan knows college football. Croom knows NFL football.
The similiaraties end there.

is that his problems as a coach were almost as much psychological as they were game prep, etc.

We had psychological issues to overcome this year with a new coach. I don't think Croom inflicted that kind of damage on your players, so you have that going for you.

He may not be 6'5" but he was very talented. A highly talented qb can make up for a little less talent other places. The O-line does not have to hold their blocks for 10 seconds if the qb makes quick decisions and accurate throws in 2 to 3 seconds. The receivers don't have to get 10 yards of separation for the qb to get them the ball, they just have a foot or 2 for a short period. Talent in the right spots and a coaching staff that knows how to use them can play at much higher level than the overall team talent would indicate.

Is that had Willingham been our coach this year - with the exact same players on our roster - that we would be 13-0 right now after having just won a BCS bowl game simply because of better coaching?

I just want to make sure I understand because I have been drinking a little tonight.
So you are saying that if Utah would have been in the SEC they would have been undefeated this year with their talent? I just want to understand what you are saying
