It will not be the end of the world as we already have a number of decent WR with morrow and fossleman coming in. If the staff thinks they need to sign one more I would offer the Briggs guy from Franklinton. He is big but needs some balis treatment. Just a thought.

Watching the meltdown rivaling Biblical catastrophes on this board over the last two days has been amusing. If either of those two are crucial to the continued success of our program we need to move to D-2 and just play volleyball. I'll say it to make you feel better..."We Will Be Fine"..........

to not be disappointed in missing out on elite prospects like Brassell, Singleton, and CJ. Those guys are phenomenal athletes and will make any school they go to better (assuming they have the work ethic and drive to succeed).

If Mississippi State, the team I love the most, plans on becoming a NATIONAL program, getting players like Brassell,Singleton, and CJis a MUST. Yes, losing out on them won't be the end of the world, but it will definitely not be a good day to be an MSU bulldawg. Recruits like these take your program from 8-4 to 10-2. No, those three guys wouldn't do it alone... but a class full of those three guys could. We have to start somewhere and that somewhere is Brassell, Singleton, and CJ. We need those guys to begin taking that next step and I'm very, very confident that Dan Mullen realizes it.

Coaching is the most important aspect of a college program and we have a gem in Dan Mullen. But even Dan Mullen can't turn Tyson Lee into an SEC QB. He has to have top notch talent for us to start taking that next step.

Also, thank God we ended up with Templeton Hardy to beef up our D-line.

Maybe with Corey Broomfield he can play some special teams since he's just a 2 star.

I'm not an idiot you dumb SOB I'm just saying everyone is freaking the 17 out about 2 WR that may not even qualify. I still think we get johnson. yeah I'm sure they are great players but don't be naïve and think if we don't get them then our class is shot.

Yea, damn that 4 star left tackle that's graduating. And those 4 star SOPHOMORES that made our defensive line pretty damn good. We don't need anymore of those type players. How dare we expect to get top notch talent and deprive our coaching staff the opportunity to develop 25 two star gems.

Delusional....

However, IF we are supposed to be entering the golden age of MSU football, we need to land these guys. We are the hottest we have been all decade. Our coach puts a priority on recruiting hard in MS. These players would thrive in our system. And honestly in the next couple years we need to have a recruiting class full of these types of players. How can we do that if we can't get two or three right now, coming off a nine win season with most of our starters coming back? The team shouldn't see a drop off in any one major area outside of the OL and LB, but at the same time, guys like CJ, Brassel, and Singleton have the ability to come in and play immediately, and make us a better football team. Our WR corp needs depth and quite frankly needs better players. Our LBs just lost two of the best in the SEC. COME ON. Diaz was good but Wilson is a bright young up and comer also. The D-line loves the guy.

I'm simply saying it isn't time to break out the razor blades if we don't get ALL of the top talent. Yes you are very delusional for thinking that way.

But I just had to make a quick response to your "idiots" comment. We WILL be fine if we don't those two. I'd say we have the most depth at WR, and with the addition of Fosselman and Morrow, we'll be just fine. Pat Patterson is a PRIME EXAMPLE. We would have been worse off if we had gotten his waste of talent.<div>
</div><div>Of course, I would love to get both of them and have them to develop and be able to throw to them down the road, but are our WR doomed if we don't get Brassell and Singleton? Hell no.

I was calm about everything the other day. But, I am starting to get a little pissed that our class is teetering on the brink of collapse. I am furious and I don't even follow recruiting that much. Why on Earth is this looking so horrible right now? Nutt and his gang of boobs are completely incompotent and some how they are pulling in new recruits every other day. It makes no sense at all. I hope that I am wrong about the way things are proceeding with this class. Brassell and Singleton seem as good as gone. CJ could very easily be out of the picture as well. That would equal a massive fail. Mullen is a great coach, but at almost $3 mil/year we have to get top 25 classes.

I see two possible problems with our recruiting:
1) Mullen may not be that great at closing with big time recruits. Last year, Cam (I understand that situation was ridiculous) and Rajion Neal bolted. We all know what is happening with this group. We need to start seeing some results with big time prospects. We had too good of a season to be outsmarted by Nutt. Who knows? I have faith Mullen will ultimately do a great job.

2) Some of the kids we are recruiting are selfish little prima donnas that spent way too much time watching LeBron's decision special. If these guys were just dragging us along to build up their own name, they can just go 17 themselves. You can't be committed to someone for 16 months, be recruiting other players to come with you, just 4 days ago publicly state you can't wait to play for Coach Mullen, and say that you are glad you don't have to deal with the media about your recruitment then suddenly completely de-commit. Manny and Hud weren't the only thing we had going for us.

I am starting to believe that every time we take 2 steps forward we will alwaus take 4 steps back. Please folks, convince me to come off the ledge.

I mean...Singleton and Brassell are most likely gone. I don't think there is a lot of hope there. CJ is looking elsewhere. He will probably come back, but I would not say it is a safe bet considering what has happened with State recruiting over the years. Morrow is apparently setting up visits with Arky and possibly LSU. Now, Whitehead is not very solid and is currently in Miami visiting the Canes. If we lose Brassell, Singleton, Johnson, Whitehead, and someone like Morrow, that would be a pretty big collapse. I might be acting overly pessimistic, but I have been burned too many times being a State fan for 30+ years. There is no way our class should finish below 35th. Trust me, I want to be told I am wrong. I will gladly eat the crow if we bring most or any of those guys into the fold.

*Ultimately, I have faith in our coaches to have theboys ready to beat the living piss out of TSUN in the Egg Bowl.

That's a big if.

They could be the next Julio Jones, or they could be the next Bob Hargro.

You are investing an excessive amount of emotional capital into a roll of the dice.

Brassel - Looks like he's probably gone.

Singleton - I think we're probably at least 50/50 with him

Johnson - Overreacted to Manny leaving and panicked (much like you're doing). Mullen and Wilson will calm him down. A Bear at the office told me that even Yancy is still saying he's pretty much a lock to MSU.

Whitehead - I can't imagine anyone wanting to go that far to play for a no-name coach who lost all but 3 of the players that were committed to them.

Morrow- He's just taking a visit. He hasn't decommitted. Not that there's no way he'd leave, but no reason to panic.

another contract in 4 years. i think if we dont land this guys it will just take us longer to win the SEC west. However, I believe that with the prayersthat ole miss has(they are not going to get better with a bunch of true freshmen in the next two years)and the incompetent coaching will still get us two more consecutive wins over our instate rival and therefor we will have by then have erased their two back-to-back cotton bowl seasons. And when when that happens we will not have to worry about Ole Miss for a long while.

But again it will depend on mullen

Yeah, I understand. I am not going to lose too much sleep. It takes time for programs to get built. Thanks for being a sounding board for some brief frustration.

...Ole Miss is a prime example of a program that allows its fanbase to do its recruiting for it. If Yancy wantsthe 4 star TE from Savannah, Georgia, then Yancy & olemissbydamn raises hell until Nutt signs that player.

You see where they are as the result of it.

Contrary to popular belief, Dan Mullen can recruit better than coach34 & tenureplan combined.

If Dan Mullen misses out on a "can't miss blue chipper" that Todd4State & windcrysmaryare drooling to sign, I trust Dan Mullen to fill the gap (no matterhow much it pisses off Todd4State & windcrysmary).</p>

(1) The best recruit in our class is enrolled (Dak Prescott) and nobody mentions him. He is a difference maker.

(2) Three other solid members of the class are enrolled as well. On Campus. Fixing to start class.

(3) Morrow is solid for us. Got an update from a coach at OS this week. He is taking some visits and should. He will get wined and dined and be a Bulldog. Morrow has a lot of potential.

(4) Arrington at Stone County did not get a lot of props in 2010. He had some injury issues. He has a lot of potential and is solid.

(5) Patdog says Johnson spooked when Diaz and Hud left and that is true. Things will settle down with him. His play at the AL/Miss game got him some more looks. He will come back around. Wilson will see to that.

(6) I've been a fan as long or longer than you. I know what you mean but you cannot dwell on the past like our Rebel Bear friends. Mullen is a different coach and this is a different staff. If we whiff on the Whitehead, Brassell (overrated) and Singleton we whiff. We have some other kids coming (the kid from Heidleberg HS is one) that have potential in our system. Coach Hughes found him and got on him early. Remember, Jonathan Banks was a no-name and he's looking good so far.

Bottom line is, if the Bears beat us out in Mississippi this year, so be it. They have other problems that are not going to be solved by picking up these three or four guys. I hate to lose a game of marbles to those crackheads in Oxford. But it will be another year before the Gator Bowl pays off for us. We should see it hit the 2012 class.

Chill, big guy........

to put my message board cred on the line, so let me clarify. Brassell to Ole Miss is a very, very strong possibility. I think his girl(with love child)has been offered some steady work while Nick is playing ball at TSUN,that is all I am saying.

grew up with a coach on madison centrals staff and he told me a month ago he thought singleton was going to pick state, and then in the latest article on BDJ tobias said he has known for a while. With all the talk about nick and tobias being good buddies i think another key piece we are forgetting is MSU commit Joe Price. My friend says they are veeerrrrryyy close and they always talk about going to the same school. But even with all the talk about the 2 wr's, i am more worried about getting CJ. I feel like he just needs reassurance that things wont be very different with manny leaving. I just thought it was funny that in the article regarding tobias, tobias mentioned he and nick possibly going to the same school but doesnt mention cj. May not be anything though...
